One of the companies I work with in Dallas recommended we spend an hour at Top Golf. This golf entertainment complex was terrific. We were greeted by a nice young gal who happily explained how Top Golf worked. In a nutshell, you simply buy a set amount of golf balls that are programmed to your individual name. The balls are tracked as they hit the targets on the driving range. You can play solo or against your friends. The closer you hit to the pin the more points your shot is worth. If you miss everything you get zero points. The games can be changed so you can compete on long drives, accuracy and chipping. Once you get your credit card pre-programmed with your name and number of balls you purchased simply place your card in the machine and it will dispense balls into a bucket. I think we paid about $40 each for our cards. This turned out to be plenty of balls for a visit. Once we had our buckets, we were escorted to our little lounge area fronting the range. There is seating and a table along with your own flat screen to watch sports and another to track your play. You can sit back and enjoy a drink and watch your scores as they are posted on the screen. There is a second or primary screen near the tee box where you hit. This screen is where you program your games and see that your balls are registered and being tracked. We hit five balls at a time each. Each time you hit the screen tells you how many points you scored for each shot. Sometimes they will offer double points on a stroke so you can catch up if you are behind. Each time you tee off your ball is tracked by sensors. The closer to the pin you hit, the more you score. This is really fun especially when the beers start flowing. The entire time you are playing, there is a waitress that takes care of your table. She is by often to replenish drinks and take food orders. Really a cool set up. We enjoyed Chicken Wings, Chicken and Waffles, Burgers, Chili and Tacos. Nothing was really great, but nothing was bad either. The food is good.
