Not too impressed with our visit to Ninja Sushi.  Just did not have the wow or taste factor to get me to go back here.  We entered to find the place pretty empty on a weekend night which surprised me as most every other restaurant in Ala Moana Center was packed.  You order at the counter here and then the food is brought to your table.  The gal at the counter was friendly as she took our order.  The Beef Udon ($8.99) was not that bad.  Liked the broth but just seemed like something was missing from this bowl of noodles.  The flavor of the mushrooms really came through and was good with he broth.  I really liked the Garlic Ebi ($4.50) and would order this again in a heart beat.  Loved the flavor of the Shrimp and Sauce.  The Dragon Roll ($8.75) to my surprise was quite tasteless.  The flavor of the Crab and Eel really didn't shine and I only ate one pieces.  The Poke Sushi ($4.75) was pretty good too.  Well maybe all things were not so bad here after all.  The waitress mentioned that they were serving everything in plastic this evening because the dishwasher called in sick.

Loved the new Japan Village Walk at Shirokiya.  The 32 food kiosks serving a variety of casual Japanese and ethnic fare plus six boutique restaurants, eight bistros and $1 Bud Light's make this a great place visit and eat.  The place was packed during our evening visit and it was tough to find a seat.  Being able to walk around with a beer in hand made the waiting for a table a bit more painless.  You can find dishes here from a few bucks and up to $40 just depends what you are in the mood for.  Everything from snacks to steaks, katsu, curries, stews, tempura, sashimi, hot pots, lobster, seafood and premium Wagyu beef.  This is a beer hall too yet very family friendly.  Amidst the cold pitchers of beer flowing endlessly around the Village there are families everywhere enjoying the food.  We ran into several families and students that we know during our visit and it was kind of like being at the Iolani Fair.  Japan Village Walk is located below Nordstroms.  We took the elevator down at Nordstrom and then crossed the street into the Village.

CHICKEN AND AHI CAESAR SALADS

CAESAR SALADS
DINNERS AT HOME

What do you do with four heads of Romaine Lettuce?  After using two heads for small side salads with dinners I decided to make a couple of main course meals so we could use it all up before it spoiled.  Went with one of my favorite chicken recipes which I call Tom's Tuscan Chicken after my friend Tom who introduced me to it.  The recipe (below) is so easy and worked perfectly with a Caesar Salad with Shaved Parmesan.  My go to Caesar Salad dressing is by Girard's.  It really is the best and gives any Caesar Salad a restaurant quality taste.  The very next night I picked up some fresh Ahi and did a Cajun Spiced Seared Ahi Caesar Salad with a corn, red onion, bell pepper and radish relish.  Oh my this was delicious.  Dusted the Ahi with salt, pepper and Cajun Spices and then seared both sides on an indoor grill pan.  Kept the middle pink and this Ahi literally melted in your mouth.  So good you could probably charge $25 for this salad in a restaurant and people would come back time and time again for it.  My Wife raved about it and said she would order this in a restaurant!

SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS

 SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS
DINNER AT HOME

So nice to get back home from traveling and enjoy a home cooked meal.  I was craving Spaghetti and Meatballs after enjoying some really good Meatballs at Carbone at the Aria Resort in Las Vegas.  Did some research and found a great recipe that combined beef and pork.  I will post the recipe the next time I make this dish with step by step photos.  They turned out great and the entire family loved the dish.  So good in fact I will enjoy the same dinner tonight!

While in Copenhagen there was a pizza restaurant directly across from our hotel.  The outdoor seating was nice a 10:00 at night with the sun still up so we decided to drop in and have a little dinner.  We started with the Greek Salad which was pretty basic and bland.  The Hawaii Pizza we ordered was delivered to our table without any Pineapple so we asked for some.  The guy took the pizza back and sprinkled some cold Pineapple on top and returned it to us.  Actually was not a bad pizza.  Far better than the Spaghetti Bolognese which was a big pool of sauce with very little pasta.  There was not enough pasta on the plate and the pasta that was there was overcooked.  Nice though to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine into the late night hours in Copenhagen.
