We had a lot of Onions left over from my golf tournament so I decided to make some homemade French Onion Soup.  Came out really good and I have been eating it for three days.

I LOVE Ruth's Chris and really have never had a bad meal here.  We went for the Ruth's Classic which is $85 for a 6 ounce Filter and Lobster Tail.  Includes a Salad, Side and Dessert.  We paid extra to upgrade our Salads.  While my meal was perfect on this visit we did have for the first time ever complain about a my wife's steak.  It was mushy on the inside and tasted like Liver.  Definitely a bad piece of meat.  We returned it and did not request a replacement.  It was taken off our bill.  Started with the Seared Ahi which is usually fresh non-chemically treated Ahi.  This piece you could tell by the color was treated with carbon monoxide.  You can tell by the color and definitely the taste.  Not good.  The Salads were good as usual and my steak was cooked to perfection and perfect.  The Lobster was delicious as was the Bread Pudding.  Think this was a one off and will definitely be returning to Ruth's Chris in Waikiki.

During the recent storms in Hawaii we had a cooler rainy day that just begged for a bowl of Pho.  Hit Pho Saigon and was not disappointed.  The Lost in Saigon Pho was delicious and filled with a good amount of meat which I loved.  The Pho Broth is solid here which makes all the difference in the world. The Special Sandwich was a bit on the tasteless side.  We asked for extra Pate and the waitress said "oh not, that's expensive".  We told her that we would pay extra and she checked with the kitchen and obliged.  The sandwich however still did not have enough Pate to taste it.  Not my fave Banh Mi.

We had been to Glovedi twice and really liked the food on both visits.  This dinner however missed the mark on several levels.  The one and only highlight of this meal was the Prosciutto San Danielle which made by Best Bites list.  Love this appetizer and would return again and again just for it.  The combination of Bread, Prosciutto, Parmesan Cheese and Giardiniera is perfection.  The Ono Crudo was totally ruined by being covered in Shiso Leaves which overpowered the fish.  It was all you could taste and ruined the flavor of the fresh fish.  The Cavatelle Santina included a nicely cooked Pasta but the Braised Octopus was like mush.  Tasted a bit like Clams but nothing like Octopus.  The Sweet and Sour Pork was a mess of a presentation with more Shiso Leaves covering the entire piece of Pork.  Why would a Chef cover the main dish with these leaves?  Again the Shiso overpowered everything.  The Pork was neither Sweet nor Sour.  It was like a local style BBQ Pork Chop and tasted like a bad Ham.  We only ate about one bit each and didn't take any home.  Not the best meal prior to heading to see Journey in concert.
