After many visits to Monkeypod Kitchen in Ko'Olina I can honestly say that this place is always good and probably one of my favorite places to eat on Oahu. I have my "go to" list of dishes that really make this a great place to eat family style or visit for Pupu's and cocktails. First up are the Oven Charred Brussels Sprouts ($9.95). Yes Brussels Sprouts. You would never think that this would be a "go to" dish but at Monkeypod they are delicious and charred to perfection. Our table of six loved them and we ended up ordering two portions for the table. Probably could have had three. Next up are the Poke Tacos ($21.95). Now these are a bit expensive but they use the freshest Ahi and the taste is delicious. The Kauai Shrimp and Hamakua Mushroom Dim Sum ($13.95) are also made fresh and delicious. All local fresh ingredients and you can taste the flavors. My favorite dish here though is the Pumpkin Patch Ravioli ($13.95). The pasta is made fresh and the flavor of the Squash is fantastic. Everyone at the table gobbled up this dish too. The Garlic Truffle Oil Fries ($9.95) are some of the best French Fries on the Island. Totally addicting and you will be amazed how fast the large bowl of spuds disappears from the table. We ordered Half Margherita and Half Proletariat Pizza ($18.95). Again a bit expensive but it is pretty good pizza. I like the thin crust and fact that you can taste all of the ingredients on the pizza because everything is fresh. My Daughter loved the Saimin with Kalua Pork ($16.95). Once again expensive for a bowl of noodles but the large portion of the Kalua Pork puts this Saimin over the top. Our friends enjoyed a fresh fish of the day and absolutely loved it. Don't leave Monkeypod Kitchen without ordering a piece of pie. We had the Chocolate Pie ($8.95) and it was devoured in sixty seconds. Also love the Strawberry Pie here. All are good. Our waitress who was named Mariah was very knowledgeable about the menu and could recite every ingredient in dishes we asked about plus the specials. She was bubbly, friendly and very professional. One of the best on the Island because she really seems to enjoy her job and care about her guests. I was amazed how she looked people directly in the eyes and listened to their requests and questions. Always smiling and making you feel welcome.
