My Happy Place in Hawaii is the Kahala Resort. I often come for a late lunch on Fridays alone just to relax, reflect and take in the beauty of the resort. Love the people and food here. One of the best places in all of Hawaii and somewhere I hope I will be visiting to the day I die.

Last week I deviated from just going home after work and stopped by the The Kahala Hotel to enjoy a late lunch. I felt so comfortable and relaxed after a hectic week and said to myself, maybe I should do this every Friday. Well I made it back again the following week and once again enjoyed some fresh Sashimi and the Beach House Salad. This time I requested all Romaine Lettuce in place of the fufu stuff that is bitter. Ahhh..so good with real lettuce.

Had an old friend join me so it was nice to sit back, check out the view and catch up on our lives while reminiscing a bit about the past.

The Kahala Hotel is truly my happy place. Love being on the property and enjoying the views, beverages and food. The Plumeria Beach House had a special dinner with a concert by Nathan Aweau who is a Hawaiian singer who played base for Don Ho for around 15 years. He then went onto an award winning solo career and an incredible run with Barry Flanagan in the group called Hapa. Hapa to this day is one of my favorite Hawaii groups. I enjoyed the music plus some French Onion Soup and Crispy Wok Fried Prawns. The Prawns and preparation of vegetables was delicious. Too bad my photo did not turn out. My Wife enjoyed the Broiled Misoyaki Butterfish which is always excellent. My only complaint about the Plumeria Beach House is that they have not changed or added to the menu in what seems like over a year. Would be nice to have a few specials or other options on the menu.

We are blessed to live just minutes from The Kahala Hotel and seem to be visiting and dining here more often. Just love the ocean views, atmosphere and great service. On this visit I went for the Kahala Burger protein style. This was delicious and I didn't even miss the bun. The star of this $20 burger is the Wagyu Beef. Delicious. My Wife went for the Fresh Fish Sandwich which she said was awesome. The menu lists the Fish Sandwich as being Beer Battered and Fried but you can order it with grilled fish too. What a great brunch at one of the most beautiful places on Oahu.
