For my birthday weekend, my Wife planned a weekend getaway which I thought would be at our condo in Waikiki. When she insisted on driving to the condo, I knew something was up. She said that our condo was booked so she made reservations at a hotel. I was thinking the Royal Hawaiian Hotel as we had just enjoyed lunch there a few weeks ago. She drove the car towards Kahala and I knew we were staying at the Kahala Hotel and Resort. I was happy because this is one of my favorite places on Oahu because it truly does feel like you are on another Island far away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. To my surprise she booked a suite overlooking the pool and ocean. So perfect and so beautiful. My Daughter and our dog Sunny joined us for the weekend which made it even more special and enjoyable. Staying at the Kahala was as good as getting away to Kauai, Maui or the Big Island and heck it is only minutes from home. We all loved our stay here and want to go back again for another weekend getaway. The resort is beautiful, peaceful and waking up to the sunrise over the beach fronting the hotel is pure heaven. I enjoyed having a cup of coffee sitting on the lanai at sunrise and then walking along the uncrowded beach. The hotel and restaurant staffs were all smiles, friendly and seemed very thankful that we were staying with them during the pandemic. The hotel and restaurant industries have been decimated so it felt good to be able to give them some business. It was also nice to get out of the house and enjoy a little time really enjoying our Island paradise. The Kahala is a special place like no other on Oahu. It transports you to another place. My Wife commented while looking out over the beach into the glistening water "is there any place we have been in the World as beautiful as this?" she asked. I thought and said no.
