PLUMERIA BEACH HOUSE LUNCH - THE KAHALA HOTEL AND RESORT

Loved sitting on the lanai at the Plumeria Beach House even though the weather was kind of rainy and windy.  The food, service and view were still excellent.  I went for the Chef's Onion Soup which is covered in a mountain of Cheese. Followed that up with the Beach House Salad with Crab and Shrimp.  Not a fan of the lettuce they use but the Seafood and Veggies were fresh and delicious.  My Wife went for the Kahala Burger and she said it was good.

Seems like the Plumeria Beach House Buffet was closed for years due to COVID.  Well it is back now in a great way.  The food is awesome and while there is plenty to choose from, they focus on quality and not quantity.  EVERYTHING I tried was delicious.  One of my favorite buffets ever.  Started with a delicious Beet Salad with some fresh Sashimi and Sushi.  Then onto some chilled Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce.  Heaven already.  Next up was the Prime Rib along with some Miso Butterfish and Orange Chicken. All superb.  The star of the show as the Crab Legs.  Super meaty, sweet and delicious.  A big surprise that everyone loved was the Cauliflower with Peas and Pesto.  Wow...good and I did go back for seconds.  This was an incredible dinner with a nice ocean view.  Loved it!

We LOVE the Plumeria Beach House at The Kahala.  One of our favorite restaurants in Hawaii primarily for the location and view.  Food is great too.  On this visit we watched the sunset and enjoyed fresh Ahi Sashimi with a chilled crisp Chardonnay to start our meal.  I ordered the Wok Fried Prawns.  I love these Prawns and the sautéed vegetables were perfect.  Served with Chicken Fat Rice that I did not eat to stay low carb.  My Wife went for the Kona Bento and she loved the Steak and Lobster.

You cannot beat the location of Plumeria Beach House and while the food is expensive, the feeling of being in a resort paradise makes it worth it.  I love this place.  My Daughter had the Spicy Ahi Roll ($15). I tried it and liked it.  She loved it.  I went for the Beach House Salad ($32) with Crab and Shrimp.  Could not believe they buried the Crab below the lettuce so you could not see it.  For $32 I want to see the Crab.  While I do not like Spring Mix Lettuce, this salad was good and I would definitely order it again and maybe ask for Romaine and Iceberg Lettuce.  My Wife had the Misoyaki Butterfish ($38).  Yes $38 for lunch entree.  The Butterfish was delicious and it had us saying "why don't we eat more Butterfish?"  Our friend had the Kahala Burger ($22) and it made my mouth water for some beef.  Two patties made this worth a $22 Burger.  Probably not but he said it was great and devoured it.  The absolute star of this lunch was the Kahala Chocolate Mousse Cake ($16).  Yes $16 for a slice of cake.  Worth every penny though.  This is the best cake ever!  Rich, chocolatey, silky delicious.  It melted in my mouth.  The entire table raved about this cake and I will go back again just for this.  In fact, I think I will try to order one for Valentines Day.  Grab a friend and come here for the Chocolate Mousse Cake.  Have a cup of coffee and you can be in and out for around $30 with free validated four hour parking.

PLUMERIA BEACH HOUSE

PLUMERIA BEACH HOUSE
KAHALA HOTEL AND RESORT, HAWAII

I was blessed to enjoy and absolutely wonderful business lunch with a great customer who picked up the tab. This was good because the Plumeria Beach House is a bit expensive. This indoor/outdoor restaurant is located in the Kahala Hotel. This is one of the nicest and most beautiful hotel properties on Oahu. We both ordered the "Afternoon Affair" set lunch menu
for $28 each. This includes the Chef's Daily Special Appetizer, entree and Kahala Hot Fudge Sundae for dessert. Prior to enjoying this set menu we tried the Spicy Ahi Summer Roll ($18).

This was way too expensive for what you get on the plate. The Summer Roll is Ahi, Avocado wrapped in a roll and served with a green papaya salad with chili dipping sauce. The Roll was good but the papaya salad was totally bland. Our appetizer was mixed vegetables served with a balsamic dressing. This was fresh and delicious plus healthy. The entree was an overcooked but very good piece of Swordfish. The fish was delicious but a little hard because it was cooked too long. To end the meal we enjoyed a hot fudge sundae that was basic and filling.
