SMOKED MARLIN SANDWICH

LUNCH AT HOME

I first enjoyed a Smoked Marlin Sandwich at a pool bar in Bali.  Now when I can get Smoked Marlin in Hawaii, this is my go to sandwich.  Butter and toast a Brioche Bun and then coat both sides with Horseradish.  Add a nice layer of Red Onion and then pile on the Smoked Marlin and top with Capers.  Absolutely delicious!

SMOKED MARLIN SANDWICHES

SMOKED MARLIN SANDWICHES
DINNER AT HOME

After enjoying Smoked Marlin Sandwiches during a trip to Bali, Indonesia I fell in love with the recipe and perfected them at home many years ago.  This is exactly how they were served in Bali and believe me these are delicious.  First you need some good Smoked Marlin.  I get mine from a friend who smokes it himself.  He adds a bit of Ginger and Red Pepper Flakes in his marinade and it really adds to the flavor.  Toast the bread with Garlic Butter on both top and bottom.  Add a bit of Horseradish to the bread and top bread with Smoked Marlin, Red Onion and Capers.

SMOKED MARLIN SLIDERS

SMOKED MARLIN SLIDERS
DINNER AT HOME

I discovered this recipe for Smoke Marlin Sandwiches while in Bali. Loved them so much that I ate one every day during my visit.  Now whenever I visit Kona there is a run to the market to buy Smoked Marlin.  You can use most any bread or rolls for this.  Always add butter and garlic spread to both pieces of bread and heat.  Top with Smoked Marlin, Capers aand Red Onion.  The kicker is a little bit of Horseradish.

SMOKED MARLIN

 SMOKED MARLIN
LUNCH AT HOME

Love it when someone walks into my office and wants to know if I would like to buy some Smoked Marlin.  This guy makes it perfect with just the right amount of Crushed Red Pepper and Ginger.  Perfectly smoked and full of rich flavor.  The meat is like a soft steak and delicious.  I was in Bali many moons ago and learned this recipe at a resort where they served Smoked Marlin Sandwiches by the pool every day.  I ate one every single day of my trip and crave these flavors often so its nice to be able to make these at home.  You can serve the Smoked Marlin on its own or make sandwiches.  I use a variety of different breads and buns but this time had some Garlic Bread so I made open faced sandwiches.  Believe me these are good.  Super good!!!!

SMOKED MARLIN SANDWICH

SMOKED MARLIN SANDWICH
DINNER AT HOME

Many years ago I was sitting next to the pool bar at a hotel in Bali, Indonesia.  There was a chalkboard sign on the bar that advertised Smoked Marlin Sandwiches.  I ordered one along with a cold beer.  When the sandwich arrived I opened it up and found Smoked Marlin, red onion, capers and horseradish on a buttered roll.  I took one bite and was in love with this sandwich.  Ended up eating one every single day of my trip.  I returned to Hawaii wanting to make these great tasting sandwiches at home.  Normally I pick up Smoked Marlin on trips to the Big Island of Hawaii where you can find it in the supermarkets.  On Oahu, I am lucky to have a customer that smokes his own Marlin when they get a good catch.  He sells the fish for $10 per bag.  So happy to make this sandwich again.  It is so delicious and probably one of my favorite sandwiches of all time.  Try this recipe and you will be hooked!

SMOKED MARLIN SANDWICH

SMOKED MARLIN SANDWICH
DINNER AT HOME

My good friend brought some Smoked Marlin back from his trip to Kona.  This is a real treat and one of my favorite snack foods.  While I was in Bali, Indonesia several years ago, we stayed at a hotel on the beach.  Each day we would visit the pool bar where they served Smoked Marlin Sandwiches.  Once we had one we were addicted and probably ate one every day during our visit.  With the Marlin in hand from Kona I made my version of my Bali favorite.  First I put a butter/garlic spread on the bun and seared it on the grill.  Then you thinly slice the smoked marlin and lay it on the bread.  Top the the marlin and add sliced red onion, capers and horseradish.  This sandwich is the BOMB.  You can also serve this dish without the bun.  Try this if you can get smoked marlin.  I guarantee you will love it.  TASTE OF HAWAII FAVORITE!
