DINNER AT HOME

Probably one of the best ever Thanksgiving meals prepared at our home. Every dish was made from scratch and tasted delicious. The flavors this year were amazing. The Bacon Wrapped Turkey was THE BEST EVER. So moist and full of flavor from the brining process, fresh herbs, fruit and garlic butter. My problem is I was full after the appetizer round. Did not have much room left but did try a little of every dish on the table. So blessed to have a Wife that can cook like this. Hey I helped too!

I was in charge of Appetizers, Stuffing and Creamed Corn. The Wife basically did all the other dishes with incredible care and attention to every detail to make the dishes look and taste delicious.

A little Hobel Wine with the meal made me a very happy camper.

Wow...how lucky was I to spend an evening with a bunch of very classy, elegant and beautiful ladies.

This was my second time dressing up for a beauty pageant. First time was way back in the day when they held the Miss Universe Pageant in Honolulu. I was here on this night to support Stephanie Wang who was competing in the pageant. Stephanie finished 2nd Runner Up but will always be #1 and Miss Hawaii USA to me. She is a remarkable girl with beauty, class, humor and smarts. Truly lights up a room when she enters and is fun as they get. The evening was really fun with our table winning the prize for most wine consumed.

COOLING CANCER CHECK PRESENTATION

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII CANCER CENTER

So blessed and proud to present the University of Hawaii Cancer Center with a check for $65,000.

The money was raised from our 2018 Cooling Cancer Golf Tournament held in August. This brings our total donations to the Cancer Center to almost $300,000. Nothing makes me more happy than being able to give back like this. Only thing I want more is bigger checks to donate. Under the new direction of Dr. Randall Holcombe, the UH Cancer Center is doing great things. Clinical Trials are now available that enable Hawaii residents local treatments without having to travel to the Mainland. Groundbreaking research in Breast Cancer and specialized studies on Cancer in Asian populations just a few of the great things happening at the Center.

So blessed to be able to support my friend Kaui Kauhi's Annual Thanksgiving Celebration that provides food and toys to the underprivileged children (Keiki) of Waimanalo. Kaui is truly one of the most loving and giving people I have ever met. He started this as a small gathering for neighborhood kids that could not afford a Thanksgiving dinner and it has now grown to something big with hundreds of kids and families attending. All of the donations come from local companies and individuals who just want to help out and give back. Each year I buy 10 bikes and lots of toys for the kids and then we cook up a lot of Baked Hams for the event.

One of those mornings when you wake up a little should I say hangin. Had to get some food in my tummy and was craving tacos for some reason. I pulled together these delicious Egg and Sausage Tacos in minutes. Really hit the spot!

Really liked the Fish Tacos at Hoakalei Country Club. Light and satisfying. Served with Turkey Chili topped with a little Cheese and Green Onion.

My second visit to Merriman's and in a word "unsatisfying". I ordered the Poke ($16) and while fresh, it had no flavor. Needs a bit of sauce in my opinion. The Steamed Clams ($17) were delicious. I really enjoy the Clams, Broth and Toasted Bread. Yummy! My Wife liked the Fish Tacos ($16) but was surprised when there were only two small tacos on the plate for $16. She said they were good. The House Made Cavetelli Pasta ($16) did not go over very well with my Daughter. Very soupy and oily. Yuck. We all left on this visit and asked "what's for lunch".
