Visting San Diego would no be complete without multiple dinners at the Brigantine. This is one of my Top 10 restaurants ever and my Wife and Daughter could eat here every single day during our visits. On this visit we reunited with friends that go back over 30 years. The food, service, ambiance and friends made this night so memorable and happy. I went with my usual order of the Original Fish Taco and Carne Asada Taco. My Wife LOVES the Grilled Swordfish and she literally would eat it every day of our visit. We discovered the Grilled Octopus on this visit and it is now a family favorite. The Beef Sliders served Protein Style (lettuce wrapped) satisfied by cravings for a small burger. My Wife and Daughter LOVE the Brussels Sprouts and eat them like candy. Everything is good at the Brigantine and the Fish Tacos are the BEST! Ohh....and the desserts. To die for. My goodness the best!

I cannot visit San Diego without a visit or two to Raul's Shack in Encinitas. Hands down the best Crunchy Beef Tacos on the planet. They do it perfect here with marinated beef that you can really taste along with the perfectly crisp corn tortilla. Lots of cheese and the homemade salsa makes these my all time fave!

I have been enjoying Roberto's Taco Shops in San Diego for over 30 years. Back in the day, they were my "go to" place for Carne Asada Burritos and Three Rolled Tacos with Guacamole. I became a fan of Juanitas Taco Shop just up the road from Solana Beach and it became my "go to" place and one of my favorite Taco stands ever. Lately during trips to San Diego I have been going back to Roberto's for the Three Rolled Tacos with Guacamole. Hate to say it but they are better than Juanitas. More meat and more flavor. I get the Special version with Lettuce, Guacamole, Sour Cream and Cheese. My Goodness I wish these were available in Hawaii. I would eat them every week even though they are not low carb. Also enjoyed the Carne Asada Burrito which was packed with Steak, Guacamole and Pico de Gallo. A little salty but delicious.

I am not big on shopping or hanging out in malls. I let my girls do the shopping and try to park myself somewhere where I can chill and people watch. Thankfully at this mall in San Diego they had a beautiful little restaurant with tables outside. I settled in with a Cheese Platter and glass of bubbly. Now this is shopping!

For years I would go to In N' Out Burger and see people eating their Burgers Protein Style (no bun). I would always say to myself "eat the f'n bun you asshole. Now here I sit eating my In N' Out Burger without the bun. What an a' hole!

I am a Hawaiian Airlines Platinum Member and have a ton of miles with them. Went to book a trip to California on Hawaiian and the prices were outrageous. I checked Alaska Airlines and was able to get us three seats together at a much, much lower price. Only a small bag of chips was served on the flight but they did give us unlimited drinks. Turns out you can pre-order food online 24 hours before your flight. The Flight Attendant told us this and then said she had an extra Cheese Plate available for around $8. We bought it and I enjoyed Cheese and a little vino on the flight. I asked for a Chardonnay to start and the Attendant asked if I would like two. Same with the Cabernet I enjoyed later. Got to say that the service on Alaska Airlines is better than Hawaiian. The employees seem happier and better trained on customer service. That is...they act and work as if they care. Don't get me wrong, I have had great service on Hawaiian but many times they Flight Attendants act as if they are doing you a favor and give the absolute minimum level of service. The flight was nice and so was the service!
