I cannot visit San Diego without a visit or two to Raul's Shack in Encinitas.  Hands down the best Crunchy Beef Tacos on the planet.  They do it perfect here with marinated beef that you can really taste along with the perfectly crisp corn tortilla.  Lots of cheese and the homemade salsa makes these my all time fave!

I am a confessed Tacoholic and San Diego is where my favorite tacos are served.  I did my Taco Trifecta Tour again in one day while visiting.  Here is my Trifecta of Taco Shops which are all located in North County.  First up is the Brigantine in Del Mar for Fish Tacos.  These are the best Fish Tacos ever.  I love the battered Fish Tacos with Avocado but you can order Grilled or even Protein Style with a lettuce wrap in place of the tortilla.  The Carne Asada Taco at Brigantine also is my favorite Carne Asada Soft Taco.  Lots of quality marinated steak with a fresh tortilla, cheese, avocado and pico de Gallo.  Add the Brigantine signature taco sauce and bam...delicous!  Next stop is Raul's in Encinitas where I enjoy my favorite Crunchy Beef Taco.  Seasoned beef in a crunchy homemade corn tortilla with delicious guacamole, lettuce, cheese and pico. I love Crunch Tacos and this one is my all-time favorite.  Next up is Juanitas Taco Shop in Encinitas.  This has been my favorite Taco Shop for over 30 years.  Always order the Three Rolled Tacos with Guacamole and the Carne Asada Burrito.  This is my all-time favorite Carne Asada Burrito.  Visit each of these great taco shops by clicking the links below.

After hitting Juanita's Taco Shop and having some Carne Asada and Carnitas, we always make a trip to Raul's for their Crunchy Beef Tacos.  Raul's has what me and my San Diego buddies think are the best Crispy Beef Tacos anywhere.  I love these tacos big time.  One of my favorite tacos ever!  On this trip we also tried the Rolled Tacos with Chicken.  Wow....these are fantastic.  Filled with a good amount of seasoned chicken and topped with cheese and guacamole.  Add the hot sauce and you have what just may have surpassed Juanita's as my favorite Rolled Tacos in San Diego.  Click links below to see more posts on Raul's and you will see that my love for these tacos has been consistent.

We made the decision to take the train from Encinitas to San Diego to see the Hawaii vs San Diego State Football game.  This was one great decision.  My good friend who lives in Cardiff recommended we grab some Carne Asada Tacos from Raul's Taco Shop since it is right across the street from the train station in Encinitas.  We grabbed two Soft and two Hard Carne Asada Tacos and a 12 pack of beer and jumped on the San Diego Coaster.  For $6.50 you get a coastline cruise in a beautiful, clean train that drops you downtown near Old Town.  We settled into our seats with a table a dined on Raul's Carne Asada which are awesome.  I like the hard shells with the lettuce and crunch.  As we enjoyed our tacos and a cold beverage we met a group of large San Diego State fans who at first didn't know what we were up to.  Seemed we were having too much fun sitting next to them with our bold Hawaii football shirts, Mexican food and beer.  After a lukewarm standoff, we offered them a beer. Bingo - we made friends for life.  The group joined us and we watched two other passengers who were magicians put on a close up magic show.  The magicians were great.  The Coaster dropped us off and we immediately jumped on the San Diego Trolley.  For $3 we were taken directly to the inside of Qualcomm Stadium.  For less than $10 we had transportation all the way from Encinitas to the Stadium.  Almost no stops and a great time.  Probably the best train ride of my life.
