KAUAI PRAWNS WITH TOMATO AND GARLIC ORZO

DINNER AT HOME

Our Daughter had some friends over for dinner and my Wife made this delicious and beautiful Italian dinner.  The star of the show was the Kauai Prawns with Tomato and Garlic.  She infused the rich flavors of Tomato and Garlic into the Orzo.  Every bite was a burst of flavor.  The Caesar Salad was kicked up a notch with Avocado, Anchovies and Parmesan Crisps.  We love Prosciutto Wrapped Melon and Tartufo Cheese with Raspberry Jam so they were the perfect appetizers.  Loved this dinner!

ORZO WITH KAUAI PRAWNS

My Wife made this Orzo dish and it was beautiful looking and delicious.  She took a lot of time preparing the Orzo so it was deep with flavor.  I don't know what she did but she did use quite a few Vine Ripened Cherry Tomatoes.

We enjoyed our dinner at Heyday in Waikiki.  This retro spot in Waikiki takes you back to the old Waikiki with a pool bar complete with swings.  Just off the lobby of the White Sands Hotel, this restaurant and bar offers good food and drinks in an outdoor comfortable atmosphere.  The hotel and restaurant are dog friendly so we brought our dog and were seated at a nice table just at the back of the bar near a hot tub and small waterfall.  Our waiter was great and he engaged us all night, brought us sample drinks and explained pretty much every dish on the menu in detail.  We started with the Foie Gyoza which were delicious.  Next up was a Special of Grilled Kauai Prawns.  Again delicious.  The Kalbi Meatballs were also good but very dense and filling.  Loved the Korean vegetables served with them.  The Wedge Salad with Avocado was unlike any Wedge Salad we had ever seen but it was delicious.  We ordered a Chicken Satay to go with the salad and it was great too.  The Mahi Mahi Meunière was fresh, lightly breaded and pretty darn good.  I did not care for the large salad because the greens were the bitter type.  The Vichy Carrots served with this dish were terrible.  Both me and the Wife could not eat them.  Overpowering Curry flavor.  Definitely coming back!
