I love visiting the Vintage Wine Bar on Santana Row every night before dinner when visiting San Jose/Santa Clara.  Great to sip a glass of wine and people watch from the outdoor seating area.  It was a bit cool on this visit but the middle section of the bar has heaters that keep you warm.  Service this trip was exceptional.  Was nice to enjoy this time with my Daughter who enjoys a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc.  We shared a flight of white wines and it worked out well because I didn't like the sweeter wine and she did.

I love the Vintage Wine Bar on Santana Row.  We call it going to the "Church" because the front of the restaurant looks like an old church.  When I tell my Wife and Daughter that I am going to church they know where to find me.  Love sitting on the outdoor patio and enjoying a glass of wine and sometimes a little cheese.  Great place to relax and take in a little people watching on Santana Row.

When you visit a place maybe five nights in a row, I think you can say it is a favorite of mine.

Vintage Wine Bar (I call it the Church) is a favorite.  I call it the Church because it looks like one from the front of the building.  Once inside there is a large patio with tables and umbrellas to protect you from the sun.  Perfect place for a pre or post dinner glass of wine. Loved spending time sitting outside and enjoying a glass or three of wine and some really good Cheese and Tomatoes.  What made it even better was my Daughter joined me each evening for Mass which gave us time to talk while my Wife got ready for dinner.  This 45-60 minutes before dinner each night was a gift.  Just to be with my Daughter the week before she starts another year of college was beautiful.  While she was limited to Diet Coke's I jumped in with the Wine and Champagne Flights and most nights just enjoyed a glass or two of Chardonnay.  Wine and service were excellent.

INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS

Thanks to a credit card company, we were able to take a 12 Day cruise using points.  Our airfare and cruise were free.  We boarded the Independence of the Seas in Southampton, England.  Security and check in at the port were very smooth. After a short wait in the waiting area we were given the green light to board this 160,000 ton ship which is one of the largest cruise ships in the world.  The ship has a staff of over 1300 people.  The Promenade is the centerpiece of the ship.  A wide walkway down the middle of the ship that features dining, shopping, drinking and entertainment.  There is a Champagne Bar, Wine Bar, English Beer Pub, Coffee Bar, Pizza Parlor, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, Barber Shop and places to buy perfume, clothes, gifts, jewelry, alcohol, tobacco and most everything else you might need on a ship.  The ship is like a giant floating hotel.  There is a front desk, concierge and tour desk.  Our cabin was a port side balcony with a huge patio that allowed us to view the ocean and ports during the cruise.  We had a great cabin attendant named Mark who provided room cleaning at least twice per day.  This is a big ship.  Really big.  Takes a few days to figure your way around.
