ROYAL CARIBBEAN INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS - ACCOMODATIONS

ROYAL CARIBBEAN
INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS

Thanks to a credit card company, we were able to take a 12 Day cruise using points.  Our airfare and cruise were free.  We boarded the Independence of the Seas in Southampton, England.  Security and check in at the port were very smooth. After a short wait in the waiting area we were given the green light to board this 160,000 ton ship which is one of the largest cruise ships in the world.  The ship has a staff of over 1300 people.  The Promenade is the centerpiece of the ship.  A wide walkway down the middle of the ship that features dining, shopping, drinking and entertainment.  There is a Champagne Bar, Wine Bar, English Beer Pub, Coffee Bar, Pizza Parlor, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, Barber Shop and places to buy perfume, clothes, gifts, jewelry, alcohol, tobacco and most everything else you might need on a ship.  The ship is like a giant floating hotel.  There is a front desk, concierge and tour desk.  Our cabin was a port side balcony with a huge patio that allowed us to view the ocean and ports during the cruise.  We had a great cabin attendant named Mark who provided room cleaning at least twice per day.  This is a big ship.  Really big.  Takes a few days to figure your way around.

HARRODS DEPARTMENT STORE - LONDON, ENGLAND

HARRODS
LONDON, ENGLAND

Harrods is the first department store where I wish we could have spent more time.  Between the Champagne Bar and Food Hall I could have lived here for a long time.  You have to see Harrods to really appreciate it.  The store is not only beautiful but filled with everything you could ever imagine.  The Food Hall where you can buy prepared meals or everything from meats to vegetables, cheese, bread, candy, seafood, steaks and everything in between.  Simply amazing.

Harrods is an upmarket department store located in Brompton Road in Brompton, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and ChelseaLondon. The Harrods brand also applies to other enterprises undertaken by the Harrods group of companies including Harrods BankHarrods EstatesHarrods Aviation and Air Harrods, and to Harrods Buenos Aires, sold by Harrods in 1922 and closed as of 2011, with plans announced to reopen in 2013.[1]
The store occupies a 5-acre (20,000 m2) site and has over one million square feet (90,000 m2) of selling space in over 330 departments. The UK's second-biggest shop, Oxford Street's Selfridges, is a little over half the size with 540,000 square feet (50,000 m2) of selling space.[2]
The Harrods motto is Omnia Omnibus Ubique—All Things for All People, Everywhere. Several of its departments, including the seasonal Christmas department and the Food Hall, are world famous.
Throughout its history, the store has had a total of five owners. On 8 May 2010, Mohamed Al-Fayed sold the store to Qatar Holdings for £1.5 billion.
