Arancino at The Kahala has been our favorite Oahu restaurant for several years so we couldn't think of a better place to celebrate our 24th Wedding Anniversary. Blessed to have our Daughter back from college to join us along with her boyfriend.  As always the dinner was amazing.  I went with my favorites of Ebi with Caviar and Carbonara with Truffles.  Both were amazing.  The Truffles are shaved table side by the Chef which is nice.    The tables shared the Mushroom Risotto which is prepared table side with a wheel of Parmesan Cheese.  Delicious and a perfect dish to share.  We also shared the Mushroom and Truffle Pizza.  A little too much cheese for my liking but the flavor was good.  I also tried the Linguine with Clams and it was perfect.  Would go back just for this.  My Daughter absolutely loves the Uni Pasta and orders it all of the time.  The Lobster Bisque here is the best.  By Wife and Daughter shared it and the kitchen was nice enough to split the portion for two.  Loved the Happy Anniversary dessert and incredible service by Maria, the General Manager, Chef and Staff.  This is an all-time favorite restaurant and I cannot wait to go back!

Another day in downtown Honolulu serving jury duty.  Stopped into Taco Kabana to try their Street Tacos.  Ordered a Fish, Carne Asada and Chicken Taco.  Definitely liked the Carne Asada best.  Fish second and Chicken third.  Not bad and I would go back again.

Spending a few days in downtown Honolulu doing Jury duty.  Leo's Taverna is only a block from the courthouse so I stopped in for a Gyro.  I have great memories of eating Leo's Taverna Gyro's at Aloha Stadium during University of Hawaii football games.  Still crave them.  The Gyro here is good but I thought it was a bit smaller than I remember.

Spending more time in Maui as we are expanding our business and building out a larger warehouse.  Treated my team to lunch at Tight Tacos Maui after a contractor recommended the place that morning.  I went for three Tacos.  Carne Asada, Carnitas and Fish.  All were very good but I liked the Fish Taco best.  One of the best I have had in Hawaii.  Second fave was the Carne Asada.  I ordered the Tacos "Super" style which includes Guacamole and Sour Cream.  Liked the Guacamole but there was way too much sour cream on the tacos for me.  Wouldn't order like that again.  The tacos come with a side and I went for the Esquites which is a Sweet Corn Salad.  It was ok.  I came away from this meal saying "these tacos are legit".

Legit they are.  I would go back for the Fish Taco soon.  Also liked the online ordering.  Super simple and fast.

This low carb breakfast was delicious.  Avocado and Cream Cheese topped with Egg and Caviar.  Trying to use up Caviar we got for Thanksgiving before it goes bad.

We have loved our last few visits to Et Al. but for some reason this dinner missed the mark.

Just was not as good as before.  The dinner menu seemed to be scaled down a bit with less selection than before.  We started with the Maui Beets which were pretty tasteless.  Really wish they would make this into more of a salad and add some more greens.  One of my favorite dishes, the Risotto with Mushrooms did not have the look, texture or flavor that I had formerly loved.  The Pork Chop was overcooked and a bit dry.  We ordered the evening special of Spaghetti with Uni and Scallop.  Both me and my Wife thought it was very bland and not even close to the flavors of a similar dish at Arancino at The Kahala.

Enjoyed a nice business lunch at Magic's Beach Grill on the Big Island.  This place checked all the boxes for me.  Great food, view and service.  I had a Daily Special which was Kung Pao Ahi.  Kind of like Kung Pao Chicken but only better.  Fresh Ahi was used in place of the chicken.  Great sauce and spice.  Loved it!

These are hands down one of my favorite tacos on the planet.  They are up there on my All Time Favorite Taco list with the Fish Tacos at the Brigantine in Del Mar.  These are so easy to make using frozen Shrimp Tempura.  Try my recipe and you will be addicted!  I use A La Madre low carb tortillas but you can use any corn tortilla.

DINNER AT HOME

Wanted to use up some leftovers from Thanksgiving so I whipped us this easy Chef Salad.

Turkey, Ham, Bacon, Swiss Cheese, American Cheese, Egg, Avocado, Tomato, Bell Pepper and Red Onion on a bed of Romaine and Iceberg Lettuce.  Absoltuely delicious and satisfying.

Enjoyed a delicious Ribeye dinner at home and later in the evening our dog was barking like crazy from an upstairs window that overlooks our neighbors house.  My Wife thought the dog had to go out for a bathroom break and opened the door to our backyard to find flames everywhere.  The owners of the home were running out of their house screaming "call 911".

My Wife called and in about 15-20 minutes a dozen fire trucks were on our street.  After moving our electric cars to the street below, I took up a position at the rear of our garage and sprayed the flames with a garden hose until the big hoses arrived.  I was successful in putting out flames and small embers that were hitting our house.  Luckily the firefighters took up a second and third position from our driveway.  They were able to protect our home

Enjoyed spending some time at the pool bar at the Sheraton Waikiki.  The Edge of Waikiki sits on the ocean and is a great place to grab a meal and drink.  Enjoyed the Cheese Platter with a crisp Chardonnay.
