I was shocked to walk down Wall Street and see a Taco Shop and there was no way I was not going to stop in and try the Tacos.  Oh my....so glad I did.  These Tacos and Tostadas were GREAT.  Oh how I wish we could have something like this in Hawaii.

Another day in downtown Honolulu serving jury duty.  Stopped into Taco Kabana to try their Street Tacos.  Ordered a Fish, Carne Asada and Chicken Taco.  Definitely liked the Carne Asada best.  Fish second and Chicken third.  Not bad and I would go back again.

Spending more time in Maui as we are expanding our business and building out a larger warehouse.  Treated my team to lunch at Tight Tacos Maui after a contractor recommended the place that morning.  I went for three Tacos.  Carne Asada, Carnitas and Fish.  All were very good but I liked the Fish Taco best.  One of the best I have had in Hawaii.  Second fave was the Carne Asada.  I ordered the Tacos "Super" style which includes Guacamole and Sour Cream.  Liked the Guacamole but there was way too much sour cream on the tacos for me.  Wouldn't order like that again.  The tacos come with a side and I went for the Esquites which is a Sweet Corn Salad.  It was ok.  I came away from this meal saying "these tacos are legit".

Legit they are.  I would go back for the Fish Taco soon.  Also liked the online ordering.  Super simple and fast.

Drove down to the border of Mexico and hit a few Taco Trucks.  This one was great.  So many items we wanted to try but only had room for a few bites before moving on to another truck.  Went with a Carne Asada Taco and the Lorenza which is a Tostada with Carne Asada and Beans.  The Tostada was hands down the best.  Simple flavors of the beans and steak.  Simple, perfect - delicious!

Picked up the Calle Sabor Carne Asada at Sam's Club for around $14.  Nice cuts of beef and pretty good marinade but we think the Baily's Carne Asada has a bit better flavor.  This was good though and I would not hesitate to buy it again.  The key to a great Carne Asada Taco (and ours are just as good as any restaurant in Honolulu) is fresh Guacamole and Pico de Gallo.  Plus a really good Salsa or Hot Sauce and fresh Cilantro and Chopped White Onion.  The Tortillas are also important.  We use White Corn Tortillas and cook them on a flattop so they crisp up just a bit.  These tacos were delicious.  Entire family loves them!

Love making Carne Asada Tacos at home.  They taste better than most all Mexican restaurants in Hawaii and satisfy our craving for Mexican food.  Made fresh Guacamole, Pico de Gallo and Salsa which really adds to the flavor.  So darn good!

Here is a very simple recipe for making fantastic Carne Asada Tacos at home.  After spending many days and nights at Taco Stands in Mexico, I can tell you that these are pretty close to what you would get on a corner in Tijuana or anywhere in Baja Mexico.  You need a few cold Tacate, Bohemia, Dos Equis, Pacifico or Corona beers to get the full effect.  The same recipe is used to make Carne Asada Burritos and Tostadas.
