CALLE SABOR CARNE ASADA TACOS

CALLE SABOR CARNE ASADA TACOS
DINNER AT HOME

Picked up the Calle Sabor Carne Asada at Sam's Club for around $14.  Nice cuts of beef and pretty good marinade but we think the Baily's Carne Asada has a bit better flavor.  This was good though and I would not hesitate to buy it again.  The key to a great Carne Asada Taco (and ours are just as good as any restaurant in Honolulu) is fresh Guacamole and Pico de Gallo.  Plus a really good Salsa or Hot Sauce and fresh Cilantro and Chopped White Onion.  The Tortillas are also important.  We use White Corn Tortillas and cook them on a flattop so they crisp up just a bit.  These tacos were delicious.  Entire family loves them!

STEAK AND EGG BREAKFAST TACO

STEAK AND EGG TACO
BREAKFAST AT HOME

One of those morning afters where I needed a Taco in the morning.  We had some leftover marinated Steak so I grilled it up with an egg and some onions.  Topped on the Hot Sauce and put it all in a grilled Corn Tortilla.  Really hit the spot.

JUST TACOS - LPGA LOTTE CHAMPIONSHIP

JUST TACOS
LPGA LOTTE CHAMPIONSHIP
KO'OLINA GOLF COURSE

Happy to see a Just Taco's booth set up between the practice putting green and driving range at the LPGA Lotte Championship at Ko'Olina.  For $9 you get two Taco's and two Taquitos or Empanadas.  I went with one Chicken Taco and one Steak Taco with two Taquitos.  Tacos served on soft corn tortillas and topped with lettuce, cheese, salsa and a little sour creme. I liked the Taquitos.  The Chicken and Steak Taco's were a bit dry and tasted pretty much the same.  There was way too much meat in each taco.  Could not pick them up and eat them like a regular taco.  Ended up using a fork.  Really liked the kids working the tent. Very professional and really interested in finding out if we like their food.  Even invited us to visit their restaurant located just down the street in Ko'Olina.

CANTINA LAREDO - DALLAS/FT. WORTH AIRPORT CONCOURSE D

CANTINA LAREDO
CONCOURSE D
DALLAS/FT. WORTH AIRPORT

I passed on dinner the night before flying out of Palm Beach and did not eat breakfast while flying to Dallas.  When I arrived in Dallas, I caught the tram to Concourse D to make a connection.  As I walked towards my gate, I looked around for a place to eat.  I saw Cantina Laredo - Gourmet Mexican Food up on the second floor and quickly found the elevator that led to the eatery.  It was around 11:00 am and the place was empty.  There were three employees sitting out front and I asked if they were open.  "Yes" one of the guys shouted.  "Been open since 8:00 am and you are our second customer".  I was seated at a table overlooking the concourse and my waiter introduced himself as Jay.  I remember this because he told me his name three times.  Very personable and attentive.  I ordered two Chicken Enchiladas and a Steak Taco with Beans and Rice.  Jay told me that the enchiladas came with a Sour Creme Sauce.  No problem I said.  Chips and Salsa quickly were delivered to my table.  Fresh and warm chips with a really good salsa.  My plate arrived with a pile of white sauce over the enchiladas.  Looked terrible.  I started with the steak taco after adding guacamole and salsa to it.  The taco was delicious.  The enchiladas were filled with a pretty dry chicken.  The sauce was pretty tasteless.  I poured on a ton of salsa and they were eatable.  Beans and Rice were good.  Price for this meal was around $14.  I liked the table overlooking the terminal and would definitely go back and eat here again.

UPDATE 5/17/13

Traveled through Dallas again and stopped at another Cantina Laredo in the airport.
This one was near the American Airlines Admirals Club.  Enjoyed some really
good Steak Tacos and a beer.  Nice little lunch when you have not had Mexican food for weeks.

MINNOW CAFE - SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA

MINNOW CAFE
SANTA BARBARA

My Dad and his wife know that my family loves to try tacos whenever we travel. Upon our arrival in Santa Barbara they quickly took us to a great little hole in the wall on a small pier. We tried a steak taco and a fish taco. Both were delicious. What a great spot to sit outside and dine too. I enjoyed both types of tacos and the chips with hot sauce. One tub of hot sauce really had a kick. I could not stop eating it. Minnow is a best kept secret in Santa Barbara according to many web reviews. I would gladly return to this little spot
