RIB EYE STEAK

 RIB EYE STEAK
DINNER AT HOME

My Wife cooks the most amazing steaks.  As good or better than most Steak Houses.  First she carmelizes both sides of the steak with a mixture of sea salt, freshly cracked pepper and brown sugar.
Then into a 450 degree oven for just a few minutes with a pat of butter on top.  Perfect Medium Rare every time.  Served up with some buttery Mashed Potatoes.  Simple and so delicious!

RIB EYE STEAK

 RIB EYE STEAK
DINNER AT HOME

Picked up two huge Rib Eye Steaks for $20 and enjoyed a steak dinner at home with my girls.
I polished off about 1/4 of one of the steaks and my girls split the other one.  Served up with some Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Broccolini.  Great little dinner for three for around $25.  Not a bad deal and we have leftover steak for some breakfast burritos.

GRILLED RIB EYE - DINNER AT HOME

 GRILLED RIB EYE
DINNER AT HOME

Came home to an unexpected steak dinner and loved it.  Turns out Rib Eye Steaks were on sale at a good price so the Wife went for meat over fresh fish.  Simply grilled the Rib Eye with a little salt and pepper plus the Hy's Steakhouse Seasoning Blend.  Broiled the potatoes in the oven with very little oil.  Asparagus was blanched and then finished on the grill.  Entire meal for three was less than $15.
No complaints here.  Great steak dinner for $5 each!

GRILLED RIB EYE STEAK

GRILLED RIB EYE STEAK
DINNER AT HOME

Was surprised to come home to a steak dinner.  We do not eat a lot of meat at home.  Seems to be more of a chicken, fish and pasta family here.  Turns out that steak was actually cheaper than fresh fish at the market.  Picked up two nice Rib Eyes for around $10 total.  My wife can cook a steak at home that is total restaurant quality.  She pan sears the meat first and then pops it in the oven with a small amount of butter on top.  Always cooks to a perfect medium rare.  The vegetables and mashed potatoes were good too.  I think the key thing to cooking a good steak is to make sure that you season the meat.  It takes a good bit of salt and pepper to bring out flavor.  The butter on top always good to improve flavor.

ISLAND STYLE SUMMER BBQ - DINNER AT HOME

ISLAND STYLE SUMMER BBQ
DINNER AT HOME

Hosted a good friend from California to a BBQ dinner at our home.  I used the BBQ grille and Electric Smoker to cook up some Chicken and meats.  Started the evening with a Pupu Platter consisting of grilled Habanero Sausage, Mozzarella Cheese wrapped in Italian Meats and Gouda Cheese with thin pretzels.  Next up was a huge plate of fresh Hawaiian Ahi Sashimi.  Raw Tuna that melted like butter in your mouth.  Simply delicious.  Grilled up some chicken thighs on the bbq and then placed them in the smoker to keep warm.  Grilled a Rib Eye Steak and cut it into thin strips so everyone could enjoy a few bites of beef.  I had limited time and cooked the pork ribs in the pressure cooker for 15 minutes.  Then placed them in the smoker for almost three hours.  The smoker added just the right amount of smoke flavor.  I placed brown sugar, honey and spices on some Wild Sockeye Salmon and placed that in the smoker too.  Finished the meal with Asparagus cooked on the grille and some home made Cole Slaw.  Great meal served up with some really nice bottles of vino.
