I am not a big mixed drink or Mai Tai guy but when friends or family visit from the Mainland, I always like to take them to the Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.  It is here and only here where I will enjoy a Mai Tai or two.  These are the BEST Mai Tai's in Hawaii!

Me and my Wife tried the Carne Asada, Carnitas and Pollo Tacos ($3 each) here.  Wait was very long and while the tacos come with Salsa, they do not offer hot sauce other than Tabasco.  I liked the Carne Asada Taco best but these were not my favorite tacos.  Don't think we will be returning.

Had some family members visiting from California and wanted to introduce them to Maile and her food.  Told them that Maile's was one of our favorite restaurants on Oahu and by the time we were done with dinner here, it was their favorite too.  In fact they were raving about Maile's food the entire week and one of them said it was her favorite meal on Oahu or Kauai.  We ordered a few of our favorite Maile dishes like Cold Tofu, Spring Rolls, Chicken Pad Thai and Spicy Seafood Combo.  Maile suggested the Thai Loco Moco so we tried it.  Oh my goodness.  This is so good and will be on our favorite menu every time we come back.  Also went with the Panang Curry because the table next to use with four guys ordered four Panang Curry for the four of them.  It is now my favorite Curry.  Love Maile and the food!

I love having a cocktail at House Without a Key at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki.  Love the view and indoor/outdoor seating options.  On this visit I enjoyed a crisp glass of Chardonnay along with some fresh Sashimi and Poke.  Pretty darn lucky to live in Hawaii and enjoy an evening like this!

I love Vietnamese Banh Mi Sandwiches and when I saw L&K Pho and Sandwich in the Ohana Marketplace I just had to try one with my Wife.  The owner or worker here was great.  Hard working positive and selling her food with passion.  I ordered the Combination Sandwich ($7.50) and she asked if I wanted it spicy.  "yes" I said.  She made the sandwich and told me that I would love it because people love all her food.  She said come back soon and try more of her food.  Her attitude and the fact she was trying to make a living out of this small stall with no real kitchen equipment made me want to support her business.  I split the sandwich with my Wife and we both loved it.  Liked the fresh bread and blend of spices.  Would definitely go back here and have another sandwich and I want to try the Pho next time too.  Wish this business luck and success.

We liked the look and feel of Fish Honolulu despite it being hot without any air conditioning.  The restaurant is open which is nice but you do have to give up the a/c.  The staff on this day was smiling and friendly.  No complaints at all about service or food waiting times.  Food came out lightening fast.  We started with the Crispy Oysters ($16) which are listed as a House Specialty.  The Oysters are breaded and fried and served with a vinegar sauce and chili pepper sauce in a drop bottle.  Served on a bed of Hawaiian Salt with crunchy seaweed.  A little salt, seaweed, vinegar and chili pepper sauce all went on top of my oysters and I loved them.  We did not see the fresh oyster menu until after we ordered the Crispy Oysters.  I would have ordered fresh instead of fried if I would have seen the fresh menu.  The fried ones were good though.  My Wife ordered the Fish Tacos ($16) which were served with fresh Ono.  The fish was super fresh and delicious on its own and never should have been fried if you ask me.  The overall flavor of the tacos was very bland.  Really needs some sauce and Pico de Gallo or Salsa.  The Roasted Tomatillo Yuzo Avocado Sauce was tasteless and added no flavor to the tacos.  We asked for salsa or hot sauce and were offered Sriracha and Tabasco.  These tacos could be good with fresh fish and a good salsa.  My Daughter ordered the Blackened Ahi Melt ($14) and did not really like it.  Only ate a few bites.  I tried it and did not care for it either.  The salad was served with a Dill Dressing that was thick and decent but both me and my Daughter would have preferred a different dressing if offered.  I tried the Signature Grilled Ahi Sandwich ($17) which came with Crispy Friend Onions, Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato.  Good sandwich but with the Fried Onions and Bacon making up most of the flavors.  The Ahi was fresh and I wish that would have been the prominent flavor.  All in all the entire family was not blow away with the food at Fish Honolulu.  Want to go back for the dinner menu before we make our final decision on this restaurant.  Seems to have some potential and the fresh oysters did look good.
