SALMON WITH HOLLANDAISE SAUCE

DINNER AT HOME

Back home from eating a lot of carbs and unhealthy foods on the mainland.  Lucky we had some Salmon from Alaska in the freezer.  Made our fave Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce along with a delicious salad packed with Avocado, Edamame, Cannelloni Beans and Veggies.
This type of dinner is so filling and satisfying.  One of my faves.

SALMON WITH HOLLANDAISE SAUCE

DINNER AT HOME

One of our all time favorite home cooked meals is Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce.  This was especially good because our friends brought the Salmon back from their trip to Alaska.  Super fresh, wild and delicious!

WILD ALASKAN SALMON WITH HOLLANDAISE SAUCE

DINNER AT HOME

One of my all-time favorite dinners with Wild Alaskan Salmon caught by our friends and brought back to Hawaii.  I first was introduced to this dish over 30 years ago when I first ever visited Hawaii.  The New Otani Hotel in Waikiki served this for breakfast and I became addicted.  Still enjoying it til this day!

MISO GLAZED SALMON

DINNER AT HOME

Another amazing dinner at home compliments of my Wife.  She is on a roll cooking up great dinners and I don't want it to stop.  This Miso Glazed Salmon was restaurant quality and full of flavor.  The Salmon was caught in Alaska by our friends and brought back to Hawaii.  Served with Grilled Bok Choy with a bit of spice.  Delicious!

This dish is definitely one of my all-time favorites.  Extra delicious this time with fresh Wild Sockeye Salmon.  My Wife really went heavy on the Hollandaise and I darn near licked the plate.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS - LUNCH MENU

ROYAL CARIBBEAN
LUNCH MENU

Decided to have lunch in the Main Dining aboard Independence of the Seas.  The lunch menu features an all you can eat salad bar that is located in the middle of the dining room.  Rather than serve yourself, you walk down the line and tell the chefs what you would like in your salad.  They place the ingredients in a large bowl and then add dressing when you are finished.  The salad bar had many different varieties of lettuce and vegetables plus chicken, shrimp and several meats and cheeses.  This is really a top quality salad bar unlike the one in the main buffet area.  I ordered the Ocean Trout.  This was actually Salmon.  I asked the waiter why they called it trout and he sent over a manager who explained that in different parts of the world they call Salmon - Trout?  The Tandoori Lamb Skewers were awful.

HENRY'S PUB AND RESTAURANT - SAN DIEGO, CA

HENRY'S PUB AND RESTAURANT
SAN DIEGO, CA

San Diego has a vibrant Gaslamp District located downtown.  The streets are lined with restaurants, bars and sidewalk cafes.  The baseball stadium for the San Diego Padres is located in this area and on Game Day, the fans fill the restaurants and bars prior to the game.  We ended up at Henry's Pub for no specific reason.  We just saw a table outside that would accommodate four of us.  We had a great waitress named Ashley.  She kept our drinks coming and was always positive.  We started with a Tomato and Basil Pizza ($11.50).  Nice size pie that I thought would be bad because it had a thicker crust.  Turns out the fresh tomato, basil and cheese was pretty darn good.  I ordered the Chicken Enchilada Bowl ($6.50).  I thought it would be an enchilada of some sort.  Turned out to be the best Enchilada Soup I have ever tasted.  This was the total bomb delicious.  At $6.50 it is bargain.  I was surprised that this was listed as the Chef's Specialty in an Irish type Pub, but boy they were right on.  Simple delicious soup filled with large chunks of chicken and tortilla strips.  My friend ordered the Salmon Fish and Chips.  Standard Fish and Chips done with Salmon.  He seemed to like it.  I tried a piece and found it to be very "fishy".  The Chips were good.  My Buddies seem to enjoy the Chicken Wraps and Fries.  This was a great place to spend time with friends and people watch on 5th Avenue.  After the meal we walked over to the stadium and enjoyed the game.

HARBOR RESTAURANT - SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA

HARBOR RESTAURANT
SANTA BARBARA, CA

We hit Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara on a cool summer night at sunset. This is a beautiful part of California and the restaurant overlooks the beach. It does not get much better. We were greeted by a happy and professional staff that set the tone for a wonderful evening. We were seated at a table in the shape of a sail boat and complete with sail. We started with some Fried Calamari ($13). Large pieces of squid battered to perfection. This was followed by Steamed Clams ($15) that were large and flavorful. The next appetizer blew my socks off. It was so good that I have been thinking about it everyday. The dish was Lobster Mac and Cheese ($19). Large pieces of lobster tail served in a not too cheesy but creamy Mac and Cheese. Absolutely the bomb. I would go back to Santa Barbara just to eat this dish. I had a cup of Clam Chowder ($8) that was just delicious. Filled with clams, creamy and delicious. My Nephew had the Prime Rib ($29) and it looked fantastic. He loved every bite. My daughter ordered the Caesar Salad ($9). It was presented like no other I have ever seen. Standing up and tied together with a green onion. Very impressive presentation. The Salmon ($26) and Halibut ($34) were pricey but beautifully presented and I was told very delicious. The Linguini Pescato ($24) with clams, fish and calamari was absolutely delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the seafood was excellent. We ended the meal with a huge Cookie Monster ($8) which was ice cream sandwiched between a really good chocolate chip cookie and covered in whip creme. The absolute bomb of a dessert. The cookie was warm and soft. Not hard like every other place I have had this type of dessert. This was an incredible meal with family. One of the best if not THE BEST of our entire trip. Cannot wait to return. While the prices are a bit high, this is great quality, presentation and service. Could be a TASTE OF HAWAII FAVORITE
