Sitting on the lanai at Rum Fire was relaxing and a great moment to realize how blessed we are to live in Hawaii.  The views here are beautiful and the Seared Ahi is one of the best on the Island.  I could have sat here for hours.

A little celebration with the Lucid Motors representative who flew to Hawaii to deliver the first ever Lucid Air electric car to Hawaii.  Enjoyed good food, wine and beautiful views at Rum Fire Waikiki.  Seared Ahi was one of best ever.  Great service too.  Love this place!

Going with a very light dinner after the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Simply Seared Ahi with a dipping sauce made of Shoyu, Dijon Mustard, Wasabi, Honey and a drop of Sesame Oil.  
This is one of my faves!

Lucky to enjoy another business dinner at Ruth's Chris in Waikiki.  I like this location better than downtown, because it has a brighter feel and great outdoor seating on the lanai overlooking Beach Walk.  I didn't even have to open the menu on this visit.  Knew exactly what I wanted;  Seared Ahi, Wedge Salad and Petite Filet.  Everything was perfect as usual.  That is what I like about Ruth's Chris.  Always consistent and always delicious.  This is one of my favorite dinners on Oahu.

Super fresh Ahi was available at the market so I bought a slab and made Seared Ahi and Sashimi.  I love Ahi both ways but my Wife prefers the Sashimi style.  This is probably one of my favorite appetizers ever.

Made fresh Ahi two ways because I love it seared and my Wife loves it Sashimi style.
For the Seared Ahi I dust the block in Cajun spices and then sear in oil for about 30 seconds on each side.

SEARED AHI

APPETIZER AT HOME

I love Ahi Sashimi and Seared Ahi.  When it is fresh like we get in Hawaii, there is no better appetizer.  For Seared Ahi, I dust the Ahi block in Cajun Seasoning and then sear it in Olive Oil for about 10 seconds per side.  Thats it!  Serve with a mixture of Shoyu and Wasabi.  I often add a little Honey, Dijon Mustard and Sesame Seed Oil to the mixture to really kick up the flavor of the sauce.

I love seared Ahi and enjoy making it at home.  I dust the entire Sashimi Block in Cajun spices and then sear it in Olive Oil for about 30 seconds on each side.  For the sauce I mix Dijon Mustard, Soy Sauce, Wasabi, Honey and a dash of Sesame Oil.  One of my favorite appetizers ever!

Back to Guieb Cafe to get my "Guieb" on again.  Just love this little local gem in Kalihi.  Had the seared Ahi again with Crab Salad and Vegetables.  Chose this over rice and they were happy to do it at no extra cost.  This lunch is $12 and worth every penny.  The Ahi is fresh and served very rare (almost raw) with just a sear on the outside.  Works well with the sauces that take this dish to another level.  Have not had a bad meal here yet and highly recommend you try it.

Made this delicious salad for my girls.  Seared Ahi, Grilled Shrimp, Eggplant, Asparagus with an Egg, Bacon, Corn, Cheese, Carrots and Onion.  Pretty damn good!

SEARED AHI SALAD

Fresh fish prices in Hawaii are at an all time low because hotels and restaurants are closed.  I am taking this opportunity to enjoy as much as I can.  Bought this beautiful piece of fresh Ahi Tuna and made a Seared Ahi Salad.  This is so simple.  Coat the Ahi in Cajun Spices and sear for about 20-30 seconds on all sides in heated olive oil.  Thinly slice the Ahi and dip in a mixture of Soy Sauce, Wasabi, Sesame Oil and Honey.  One of my all-time favorite dishes in Hawaii!

DINNER AT HOME

Very thankful to be home with my Wife and Daughter on Thanksgiving.  Really nowhere else I would rather be.  So blessed to have family, love and great food along with friends on this special day.
We began prepping for Thanksgiving Dinner the night before with me making the Compound Herb Butter, Roasted Garlic,  Sausage, Apple and Sage Dressing, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Corn in advance.  From experience we have found that trying to make everything on Thanksgiving day is just too much stress with too much going on in the kitchen and in the oven.  This meant that we only had to cook the Turkey and a few other dishes prior to our guests arriving.  Worked out very well and allowed us to relax, take a nap and enjoy the day before we dug into this huge feast.
