KALUA PORK BURRITO

DINNER AT HOME

One of my customers was selling homemade Kalua Pork for a fund raiser. I bought two tubs for $10 each. Sautéed Cabbage and Onions with the Kalua Pork and made Burritos using low carb tortillas. This was actually delicious and over the next three days I ate three of these Burritos. I may have discovered a new food sensation.

We were invited to a Birthday dinner at Fook Yuen, a restaurant we had not been to in over 15 years. This Honolulu institution has been around forever and seems to always be full when we drive by. On this night the restaurant was packed with a casual crowd of what seemed to be mostly locals. We went large with a variety of dishes for our party. I liked the Sweet and Sour Pork, Beef Tenderloin with Pepper Sauce, Roasted Duck and Salted Lobster. Spring Rolls were bland as was the Sautéed Shrimp Szechuan Style. We don't eat much Chinese food only because we have not found a good place in Honolulu. This was not bad and I would definitely return to try some more dishes. Our Waiter was a piece of work. Kind of a dick who perhaps thought he was funny.

Our Daughter was leaving back to the mainland so we celebrated her birthday a little early. Dinner at Restaurant Suntory was perfect but rather expensive. We went all out and enjoyed the Imperial Course with Miyazaki Filet. Wow.....this was incredible. Sushi, Abalone, Lobster and Wagyu all in one dinner.
