Taking a red eye flight out of Terminal 2 at the Honolulu Airport and had time for a late dinner.  Ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos and to my total surprise, they were really good.

Decided to do my own little Wahiawa Food Tour and our first stop was Clau & Choi's Cocina.  A nice gal at the counter took our order.  I asked what she recommended and she said the Torta.  Ok, I went for a Carne Asada Torta, Taquitos Dorados, Fish Tacos and Chips and Salsa.

We grabbed a table near the front an waited a bit.  Turns out they make the Chips fresh when you order.  They arrived warm and crispy with a Green Salsa.  I asked for a Red Salsa and was told they only serve the Red with tacos.  The Green turned out to be delicious with just a hint of heat.  The Taquitos Dorados arrived and looked delicious.  The Chicken was mostly in the middle and it tasted very bland.  Like it was just boiled and not seasoned.  The Avocado Salsa served with the Taquitos was delicious and packed some heat.  The Carne Asada Torta was good.  Liked the Tomato, Avocado and Jalapeños and the sauce served with it was the bomb.  The meat however was a bit dry and crunchy.  The Fish Tacos were ok.  The Tortillas fell apart quickly and made a bit of a mess.  What shined here were the salsas.

Finally convinced my Wife to make Baja Fish Tacos just the way we used to serve them in our Mexican restaurant back in the day.  We used fresh Mahi Mahi and a light Beer Batter.  Low carb Corn Tortillas, White Sauce (Mayo + Yogurt + Lime Juice), Cheddar Cheese, Pico de Gallo, Avocado and Hot Sauce.  Holy guacamole these were delicious.

Cruising through Cupertino to see both Apple campuses and decided to stop for lunch at Pacific Catch.  The Guaca-Poke was ok but the Ahi did not seem fresh like we get in Hawaii. 

I had a Fish Taco and Hot Fish Taco.  Fish was fresh and the Tacos were ok.

My Wife had the Steak Tacos and seemed to really like them.  My Daughter had a salad with Grilled Shrimp.  The Shrimp were a bit slimy.  She did not seem to enjoy it.  Champagne was terrible. I did not finish half of it.

Fresh Hawaii Marlin was used to make these great Fish Tacos for Taco Tuesday at Casa de Santos.

Simply grilled the Marlin with some butter and Cajun spices and then made a Taco with fresh Flour Tortillas, Cabbage, White Sauce (Yogurt, Mayo, Lime Juice and Oregano), Cheese, Pico de Gallo, Avocado and a little Hot Sauce and Jalapeño.  These were so good!

I often pop into Sammy's at the Kahului airport when catching flights home from Maui.  There is a bartender that works here that is incredible.  Always welcoming me and serving a drink without me even asking.  On this visit I decided to grab a quick lunch while sitting in the outdoor patio.  Ordered Fish Tacos which were around $21.  The Tacos were excellent because the fish was fresh.  Could not understand why they put Spring Mix lettuce on the tacos.  Really added nothing to the texture of flavor.  If they would have put Cabbage in the Tacos they would be one thousand times better.  For $21 these should "rock".

Saw this Seafood Taco Truck in a parking lot in San Ysidro on the Mexican border.  It was Tuesday and the Tacos were only $1.  After just finishing a Carne Asada Taco and Tostada and a truck next to this one we only had room for a single Fish Taco each.  This trucks menu looked amazing with loads of fresh seafood in what looked like amazing preparations.  Ordered (2) Fish Tacos for $2 and we were in Taco heaven.  These Fish Tacos were some of the best we have ever tasted.  They were large too for a buck.  Really wish we had more time to check out a lot more items on this truck.

When I saw super fresh Shutome (Swordfish) at the market for $5 per pound my mind thought Fish Tacos.  Grilled the Fish with Cajun Spice Rub and then assembled the Tacos on warm Corn Tortillas, Added Cole Slaw, White Sauce (Yogurt, Mayo, Lime Juice), Cheddar Cheese, Pico de Gallo and Cotija Cheese.  Fresh, delicious and so satisfying!
