I don't mind giving up the Lay Flat seats on Hawaiian Airlines if I can fly into Long Beach rather than Los Angeles LAX.  Just love the ease and laid back vibe of Long Beach.  Service on this flight was as you would expect from Hawaiian.  Just the basics with nothing to remember.  Food however was better than normal.  Actually liked the Lasagna.

Hawaiian Airlines service from Honolulu to Long Beach is just ok.  You don't get the lay flat seats but you do get the stress free experience of Long Beach versus the hustle and bustle of LAX.  Food on this flight was actually eatable which is a step up for Hawaiian Airlines.  Service is what you would expect on Hawaiian.  Just enough effort to get the job done.  Not really a First Class experience but much better than sitting in back.

Flying to Los Angeles is a breeze when you fly Hawaiian Airlines into Long Beach and avoid Los Angeles (LAX) completely.  They don't have lay flat seats but the ease of flying into Long Beach is worth it 100%.  Long Beach is not crowded and when you land, the Car Rentals are right across the street.  No need to hop on a bus or shuttle.  You can be on your way in just minutes with no stress, crowds or traffic.  Love it!

LOVE flying into Long Beach rather than LAX.  Only drawback is the Hawaiian Airlines flights use smaller planes with seats that don't lay flat.  Kinda like taking an InterIsland flight between Honolulu and Maui First Class.  Food as with all Hawaiian flights sucks.  Worst food in the skies year after year.  When you arrive in Long Beach there are not jetways and the portable ramps are exposed to the weather.  That's ok with me as baggage claim and car rentals are a breeze in Long Beach.  Walk across the street and grab your car without boarding a bus or train.  So convenient!

When visiting Los Angeles, the only way for me is flying into Long Beach rather than LAX.  While the plane is smaller and they don't have lay flat seats, the ease of getting off the plane and walking across the street to pick up a rental car beats the crowds and chaos of Los Angeles.  Love the Long Beach airport!  As for Hawaiian Air, the service was good but basic in First Class.  Best part of the flight is the Sparkling Wine served prior to takeoff.  The food is terrible with a Beef Brisket being covered in seaweed.  Hate this.  My Wife didn't care for the meal so she ordered Cup Noodles and was charged $8 in First Class.  I ordered the Cheese Platter and paid $10 or $12 for the small serving.  While I love Hawaiian Airlines, they need to up their game on service and food in First Class.  They charge big money for these seats and then ding you for a Cup Noodles.
