Three trips so far to Seoul and four visits to Oppadak.  Love the Wings here and we always go for half Spicy and half Garlic.  My fave is the Spicy and believe me they pack the perfect amount of heat.  Makes your nose run and you need to take a break but the flavor and heat just bring you back again and again.  A Seoul favorite for our family indeed!

So happy that we finally have some pretty tasty Korean Fried Chicken in Honolulu.  Kyochon 1991 does it well and we will definitely be back.  We arrived on a Saturday afternoon to find the place busy.  The woman behind the counter said that there was a 50 minute wait for the Chicken.  We had some errands to run so we placed our order and went on our way.  Returned an hour later and our order was ready.  They double checked each box before placing it in a bag.  We tried the Spicy, Garlic and Honey Wings plus the Kim Che Fried Rice.  I liked the Spicy Wings best.  Great flavor and just enough heat to not overpower the flavor.  The Garlic Wings were not that garlicky and we wished they were.  The Honey Wings were not too sweet and pretty tasty.  These Wings have a little crunch on the outside but are moist on the inside. We loved the Kim Che Fried Rice.

We visited Oppadak Korean Fried Chicken during our last trip to Korea and it was our first choice for dinner on this trip.  Located directly across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel so very convenient too.  We ordered the Spicy Wings and Garlic Wings.  The Spicy are spicy and they have the perfect kick.  We ordered them fried which is the way to go I think.  Great flavor that keeps you going back for more even when your mouth is burning.  For Koreans, these are probably not that spicy but for us they were the perfect spice level.  The Garlic Wings were delicious too.  We ordered them baked rather than fried and loved them.  I cannot imagine visiting Korea and not going back to Oppadak.  Love this place.

When we visited South Korea, I became a big fan of Korean Fried Chicken (KFC).  Probably some of the tastiest chicken in the world.  In Korea I enjoyed spicy KFC with a cold beer and loved it.  I have not been able to find any really good KFC in Honolulu until now.  BBQ Chicken Hawaii does a pretty good job but it did not hit the spot like the stuff in Seoul.  The Chicken Wings here come in a box of 9 minimum for about $17.  Sounds like a high price but if you know how much food and labor costs in Hawaii, it is not that bad.  We tried the Mala Hot Wings and Galbi Wings.  I liked the Mala Hot Wings.  Pretty sticky and spicy sauce that had the perfect amount of heat for me.  The Galbi Wings to me were terrible.  I could not even eat one of them.  My Wife however liked them.  The Wings here were pretty meaty and cooked perfectly with a nice outside crunch and fall off the bone moist chicken inside.  I will definitely be back to try a few more flavors.
