Hale Vietnam is one of our favorite if not favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Hawaii.  Love the food here.  Found out that they now have delivery on Grub Hub so we ordered a few dishes for delivery as we were really busy and did not want to go out.  Food arrived within an hour and the Grub Hub driver was super polite and communicated well.  I had ordered Spicy BBQ Chicken and we received Chicken Fried Rice.  The Imperial Rolls came without Lettuce or condiments and the Green Papaya Salad was perfect.  We called Hale Vietnam to tell them that we got Fried Rice and no BBQ Chicken.  They apologized and said it was their fault.  Told us to call Grub Hub which we did.  Grub Hub said they could not change the order but would issue us a refund for the BBQ Chicken.  I texted the driver and he immediately called and said he would go back to Hale Vietnam and get the BBQ Chicken and deliver it at no charge.  I told him I didn't want him to waste his time like that and we just ate what was ordered.  Food was good so we were happy.

The third stop on my personal Wahiawa Food Tour was Old Town Pizzeria & Tap House which is located in the same building as my second stop Chicken in a Barrel.  Directly across from the Chicken is this really good Pizzeria.  The young man behind the counter was friendly and had my slices of Pepperoni Pizza out in minutes.  We sat outside overlooking Kam Highway which was bustling and busy.  Thought this was a great place and set up for enjoying Pizza and a Beer.  If I lived closer, I would come hang out here and eat Pizza.  Pizza was good with a nice amount of Pepperoni.  Would definitely eat here again!

The second stop on my personal Wahiawa Food Tour was Chicken in a Barrel.  I had never heard of this place and was quite surprised when I found out that they have five locations in Hawaii and two in California.  Looks like they started on Kauai and then branched out with franchising.  I ordered the #1 Plate for $15 which is 1/4 Chicken, Chile and Rice.  My Plate came out in just minutes.  The friendly staff showed me an area where you could add BBQ Sauce and pick up your napkins, forks and knives.  I went for the Hot BBQ Sauce and really liked it with the Chicken.  Chicken was smoked to perfection and really good.  I would definitely go back and order this again.  Was not a big fan of the Chili only because it had a ton of Red Beans.

Decided to do my own little Wahiawa Food Tour and our first stop was Clau & Choi's Cocina.  A nice gal at the counter took our order.  I asked what she recommended and she said the Torta.  Ok, I went for a Carne Asada Torta, Taquitos Dorados, Fish Tacos and Chips and Salsa.

We grabbed a table near the front an waited a bit.  Turns out they make the Chips fresh when you order.  They arrived warm and crispy with a Green Salsa.  I asked for a Red Salsa and was told they only serve the Red with tacos.  The Green turned out to be delicious with just a hint of heat.  The Taquitos Dorados arrived and looked delicious.  The Chicken was mostly in the middle and it tasted very bland.  Like it was just boiled and not seasoned.  The Avocado Salsa served with the Taquitos was delicious and packed some heat.  The Carne Asada Torta was good.  Liked the Tomato, Avocado and Jalapeños and the sauce served with it was the bomb.  The meat however was a bit dry and crunchy.  The Fish Tacos were ok.  The Tortillas fell apart quickly and made a bit of a mess.  What shined here were the salsas.

Wanted to venture out of Honolulu and experience some different restaurants in Wahiawa.  Found parking off the busy Kamehameha Hwy and just walked a few yards to hit three restaurants.  Enjoyed this little outing so much, I think we may go back and do it again!

Loving Hero Zero Carb Hawaiian Rolls.  Made this BLT with Avocado for breakfast and it rocked.  You would never tell this is zero carb bread.  So good!

Side Street Inn is one of my favorite restaurants in the world.  Absolutely love the food here.  It is delicious and so very satisfying.  Never get tired of eating here and cannot wait to go back again.  The Fried Rice is the best on the planet and the Pork Chops, Kalbi and Steamed Fish cannot be beat.  Portions are huge and meant for sharing.  Definitely a MUST to eat family style here.  You gotta order a bunch of dishes and enjoy all the different flavors.  Leave room for dessert because they are also delicious.  Love the staff here too.  Always friendly.
