Caught up with an old friend who is going through cancer treatments and a recent hip replacement. Wanted to get him out of his house for the day so I took him to the House without a Key at the Halekulani. Picked this place because I wanted to sit outside and enjoy a view and the great weather. We started with the Ahi Tataki which was amazing. Super fresh Ahi lightly seared and served with a Ponzu Sauce. Delicious. The Lobster Salad was also very good but the next time I order this I don't want the Tarragon Dressing. Will opt for the Caesar Dressing or something else. The Pizza was terrible. One of the worst in Waikiki. Totally too much cheese and little flavor. I have had frozen pizza that tastes better. Service and wine/cocktails were excellent. Great afternoon indeed!

No place I would rather end the week in Honolulu. The Kahala Resort is my Happy Place. Sitting here alone with my thoughts and the view is the best way to decompress. I always enjoy the fresh Sashimi when it is available and this order did not disappoint. So fresh that it melted in my mouth with a delicate flavor that was just amazing!

This restaurant is beautiful and the staff from the time we entered to the time we left was very friendly and always smiling. The gals at the front welcomed us with smiles and even complimented my wife on her beauty and outfit. Our waiter was great and explained that the menu is like Tapas style and the dishes are meant to be shared. We dug in and ordered a variety of delights. Surprised that everything came at once and in just minutes. Started with the Mango Papaya Salad which was good. A bit sweet and we thought it needed some heat to offset the sweetness. The Frog Legs were also sweet but pretty good. The Crab Lumpia is a great menu idea but totally does not work. You cannot taste the crab between the fried wrapper and Sweet Chili Sauce. The Hamachi Crudo was good but I was turned off by the mayonnaise that covered the fresh fish. The Krazy Fried Rice was pretty good. After all this we were still hungry so we ordered the Thai Basil Chicken which was our favorite dish of the night. Filled with great flavors that we enjoyed. My wife saw a large pile of French Fries on the table next to us and she just had to order them. They were good but there was absolutely no Lemongrass flavor. Liked everything about this place but just wish the food had some bolder flavors.

Our beloved Margotto Hawaii restaurant is now Piikoi Steak. While we loved our dinner here, I pray Margotto opens again soon but it was nice to see Margotto's Chef Shiori still running the kitchen. She is a little dynamo and we love her cooking and smile. The menu here is very small with just two entrees. Beef or Pork. We ordered both and enjoyed the contrast. Both were delicious and I could not pick a favorite. The Mashed Potatoes are delicious as was the corn. Prices are super reasonable so we will definitely be back!

SAMMY'S BEACH SALAD TO GO

My Wife spent the day on Maui and brought me back my favorite salad in Hawaii from Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill at the Maui airport. Sammy's Beach Salad with Ono is my fave and oh so delicious. The best dressing ever!

I hate shopping but this lunch at Ruscello made it much more tolerable. Tomato and Burrata Salad with light and fresh. Was not a fan of the Chicken Meatballs in the Penne Bolognese. Wish they were beef. My Wife enjoyed the Salmon Caesar Salad. Great service by Nicole!
