Still trying to figure out how I would describe the food at Lady Elaine in Manoa. Mediterranean? A lot of different flavors that sometimes hit and sometimes did not. I kept thinking to myself, "Is this the right type of restaurant and food for Manoa?" Didn't seem to fit the demographics which is not a bad thing. As each dish began to hit our table, I found myself questioning what the heck is the Chef thinking with these flavors. I loved the Lamb, Meatballs, Risotto and Caesar Salad. The Blistered Tomato Pasta had a heavy cinnamon flavor that ruined the dish. My Daughter did not care for the Turkey Pot Pie which was a special on this night and my wife didn't like or eat the Fresh Fish. Monchong that was covered and smothered in so much spice that you could not taste the fish. Couldn't stand the Sumac Cauliflower as once again the overload of spices killed the flavor of the Cauliflower. Everyone seemed to enjoy the Charred Tahini Cabbage. The stars of the meal for me were the Risotto which had a nice kick of heat and the Lamb which was delicious. The Polenta with Egg and Mushrooms also shined. There is a lot going on here with the food flavors so eating family style was great as we were able to try a lot of dishes.
Service was EXCEPTIONAL with our waitress and the entire staff doing a great job! I do plan on coming back here primarily for the great service we enjoyed and maybe another Caesar Salad, Risotto and Lamb.
