KING LEAR DINING ROOM

Another night dining in the King Lear room aboard ship.  Nice menu tonight.  The Lamb Shank with Rosemary was the star this evening.  Great flavor and texture.  We did not eat dessert most nights aboard ship.  Usually filled up on the starters and main course.

LUNCH SERVICE

We would always check the menu at the King Lear dining room for lunch.  If there was nothing on the menu we liked, we would venture over to the Windjammer for the buffet.  Lunch aboard the ship can be very good and enjoyable at King Lear if the menu is decent.  There were many days where we did not like the menu.  You can always get a steak, burger or fish here.  There is also a very large salad bar in the middle of the dining room.  Chefs grab a bowl and walk with you down the bar.  You tell them what you want and they pour it into the bowl.  The salad bar has several types of lettuce, vegetables, chicken, ham, shrimp, egg, olives and a lot more.  Once you finish you can add dressing and then the chef places your salad on a plate for you.  We found the salad bar to be great.  The entrees though were sometimes a bit disappointing.

We signed up for "Anytime" seating aboard the Independence of the Seas.  This means you have no set time for dinner.  You can make a reservation for a specific time or just show up and be seated.  You can opt to sit with other passengers or just by yourself.  We sat together as a family and did not participate in the group dining.  Service here was hit or miss.  Sometimes good and sometimes terrible.  The food pretty good when they had a decent menu.  There were many times when we looked at the menu and decided to eat in another area of the ship.  Meals here always start with soup, salad and a variety of starters.  You can choose as many starters as you like and can order several entrees if you are real hungry or just want to try different things.  You ask and they bring it with no questions.
