WOW......Gusto is one of my favorite Italian restaurants of all time and better than many we enjoyed in Italy. Ate here twice in five days and I was actually wanting to go back again for the Pizza and Veal Parmigiana. On the first visit there were two of us so we tried the Burrata Caprese as a starter. Delicious but I am not a huge fan of Cherry Tomatoes and prefer Heirloom or Beefsteak with Burrata. No complaints though it was delicious. The Spicy Lumache Alla Vodka was amazing and as good or better than the famous Spicy Rigatoni Alla Vodka at Carbone in Las Vegas. The star of the show however was the Veal Parmigiana which was THE BEST of my life. Bone In with a thick cut that was amazingly moist. So soft that you could cut it with a fork. The cheese and sauce were also incredible. The perfect combination of flavors that really made me a lover of Veal Parm. I am still craving this dish.
Our second visit allowed us to try more great food here as we had a larger table of six people. Every dish was delicious starting with the Classic Caesar. Nonna's Meatballs were moist and flavorful and there was not one person at the table that didn't want more. The Arancini also was a favorite with many of us saying it was "great". A surprise hit for me was the Avocado Cucumber. Holy cow this dish was something I could never imagine making but the chef pulled it off with amazing flavors. The Cucumber, Basil and Mint paired with the best Sherry Vinaigrette ever blew me away. Amazing! The Mushroom Risotto with Truffles was cooked perfectly and one of my fave Risottos ever. The Pinwheel Lasagna was good but somehow missed the mark for me on taste. The Grilled Branzino was good but after eating all of the other great dishes it was just a side note. Now for the Pizza's. Blown away by the Four Cheese Cacio E Peppe Pizza which was one of the best Cheese Pizza's of my life. The Pepperoni and Sausage also rocked my world with the delicious dough and sauce. Some of the best Pizza ever tasted on this blog. The desserts were a blur as I was just wanting more Pizza, Risotto and that damn Avocado/Cucumber Salad.
I love Gusto and would actually go out of my way and travel to Pennsylvania again for the Veal Parm, Pizza and damn Avocado/Cucumber!
