If I landed back in Philadelphia tomorrow, my first stop would be Angelo's Pizzeria. The Pizza and Cheese Steaks here are off the charts. Probably the best Cheese Steak of my life and the Pizza is up there with anything I have had in New York. The line was down the block when we arrived and then just got longer and longer as we waited. People were spilling out all over the streets, in the park and around the corners either waiting for their order or eating. There are no seats inside Angelo's and there are no tables anywhere near the restaurant. You wait in line then get inside the tiny shop where you order at the counter. They take your cell phone number and text you 20 to 30 minutes after ordering. We sat across the street on the curb while waiting. With no place else to sit, we resumed our set up curbside to dine on the Angelo's Pizza and Cheese Steak. Yes, it was worth the wait and uncomfortable seating.
While the Pizza was excellent, it was the Cheese Steak that blew us away. We had been to Pat's King of Steaks and Geno's Steaks before eating at Angelo's. The Angelo's Cheese Steak blew the others out of the water with the delicious bread and combination of meat, cheese and onion flavors.
