We flew from Mumbai to New Delhi on our quest to visit the Taj Mahal. The flight was a breeze compared to the 3.5 hour drive. The Driver we hired met us at the airport and we quickly hit the streets of Delhi. Livestock was all over the streets are were a dozen or so Lady Boys walking from car to car begging for money. Bizaar would be an understatement. The traffic, sounds, honking of horns, pollution, trash and poverty were reminiscent of Mumbai.
The 3.5 hour drive was one of the most incredible and scariest of my life. No traffic lanes, no speed limits and constant lane changing, swerving and close cut offs of other cars. Our driver kept looking at our guide in the passenger seat and didn't keep his eyes on the road. He kept falling asleep until he almost crashed and then I had to say "What the fuck". He then pulled over to a rest stop and downed a gallon of coffee. The Rest Stop was clean and had several different food options and well kept bathrooms with attendants cleaning. We hit up KFC for a Spicy Chicken Sandwich and it was way more spicy than anything in the United States.
Have to say, that everyone we came in contact with was very nice here.
Back on the road and it was just as scary. White knuckles all the way to Akra.
