According to my Daughter and her college age friends, Din Tai Fung is the rage of Tik Tok and a must place to eat.  You should of seen their excitement when we decided to go there.  They were going crazy.  We arrived to find a one hour wait.  They took my cell phone number and texted me when our table was almost ready.  You are told to return to the restaurant within 10 or 15 minutes.  Wait a little more and then we were seated.  Everyone at the table just ordered what looked good on the menu which was digital on our phones.  Food was great and service was good.  Everyone especially liked the Shrimp and Kurobuta Pork Wontons with Spicy Sauce (not too spicy), Xiao Long Bao, Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, Green Beans and Black Pepper Beef.

ON THE FIRSTSHOW SICHUAN CUISINE - GUANGZHOU, CHINA

 ON THE FIRSTSHOW
GUANGZHOU, CHINA

My first meal in China this trip was at On The Firstshow in a small strip mall near my meetings.  The food was absolutely delicious with an emphasis on "spicy".  The meal started with a cup of tea infused with dozens of spices and flowers.  It was so aromatic and burst with flavor.  The tea was served by a young man who pours from a pot with a very long spout.  I am sure it took lots of practice.  Tea was superb and reminded me of tea service we enjoyed in Beijing.  As for the food, it was all great.  Amazed by the flavors and heat.  The revolving table includes boxes of tissues which you will need when the heat kicks in.  My nose was running and my mouth was hot but I could not stop eating this great Sichuan food.  There was a Spicy Seafood Soup that blew me away with flavor and the Spicy Eggplant dish was among the best I have ever tasted.  This is the kind of place I would eat at every week if they had one in Hawaii.
