I LOVE MY FUJITSU AUTOGRAPH SESSION

ALOHA STADIUM

Collette Corbin of ESPN1420 Radio in Honolulu put on a really fun event called the Jersey Fun Run at Aloha Stadium.   After the race, she organized an autograph booth featuring some of the personalities featured in our Fujitsu Air Conditioning television commercials.  So blessed to have friends like Rich Miano, Nate Ilaoa, Leonard Peters, Colt Brennan, Maa Tanuvasa and Tala Esera show up to spend time signing autographs and posing for photographs with their fans.  We even had Teilor Grubbs from the television series Hawaii Five O signing autographs in the tent.  Great to see Hawaii football fans showing up with jerseys, photos, helmets and footballs to be signed and great to see the droves of people who enjoy Fujitsu commercials and support the brand.

Always like to watch big games at home on my widescreen as I am not a big bar guy and don't really enjoy going to parties for sporting events.  Just like staying at home and cooking with my girls.  Our Super Bowl party was for three.  Dad, Mom and Daughter.  While Mom did laundry, cleaned and really only stopped to watch the half time show my daughter worked on a homework project and caught parts of the game with Dad.  She did stop to mow down two hot dogs and a Root Beer Float.

I cooked up some homemade Spicy Chili and Hot Wings.  Chili came out really good.  I used combination of Ground Turkey and some Cubed Beef with lots of jalapeño, tomatoes and spices.  My Chicken Wings were baked in the oven and then mixed in combination of butter and Frank's Hot Sauce.  Served up with some Blue Cheese Dressing, carrots and celery.  Was ready to serve up some Nachos but just did not have any room in the tummy after eating a Dog, Wings and Chili.  The game goes on while the Wife takes a nap and my daughter finishes her school project.  Not a bad day in paradise.  I am one lucky guy.

We had not been back to Kenny's for a number of years so decided to give it a try while in the neighborhood to visit my daughters classmate.  Kenny's is one of the last standing Old School Hawaii  Diners and they have been around since the 1960's.  I recall my last visit here in 2012 and remember that I was somewhat disappointed with what I had ordered.  We entered the restaurant and were immediately greeted and seated in a small dining room on the right side of the entrance.  We waited a few minutes for our waitress to serve a group next to us and then she came by with the menus.  The menus are huge, heavy, dirty and messy.  Combination of faded photos and text, wrinkled and torn.  After going through the menu I said to myself "wow..this place aint cheap".  My Wife ordered the Oxtail Soup ($15.75) served with tons of ginger and two large scoops of rice.  She liked the flavor.  I tasted the Oxtail and it was moist.  Thought the broth was just ok.   I ordered the Chili with Crackers ($6.59) and added onions ($1.12).  This means my Chili came in at almost eight bucks.  When the small bowl arrived I could not believe it.  Eight bucks for this I thought.  Chili was pretty bland but had a good amount of meat in it.  Needed a whole lot of Tabasco Sauce to add some flavor.    My Daughter ordered a side order of Chicken Long Rice ($2.99).  This tiny little bowl of Chicken Long Rice was actually good but what a small portion.  I am pretty much done with Kenny's.  Just not my style of food.  We saw a lot of Pancakes going out and they were huge.  May stop in for breakfast one day.

We were attending an event at Aloha Stadium one weekend and while walking back to our car, we decided to walk down the Swap Meet isle to see what was available.  We were all hungry so when I saw sandwiches at Aloha Bakehouse I stopped and took a look.  At first I thought these sandwiches would not be good because they looked like big pieces of bread.  I do not like sandwiches where bread is the major ingredient and what you taste most.  I like to taste the flavors of the meats and other ingredients.  I took a minute to review the selections and then saw "Jalapeño" and knew that I was buying one.  I added a Pepperoni and Olive then checked out.  Each sandwich was $5.  They offered to sell me five sandwiches for $20 but I thought that was too many sandwiches given the fact I have never tried these before.  We took the sandwiches home and heated them in the microwave for about 20 seconds.  I started with the Jalapeño sandwich.  Wow...the heat of the Jalapeño was perfect.  It had a big kick and there were a lot of them in the sandwich.  The bread while thick did not take away from the other flavors in the sandwich.  The flavor of the Pepperoni and Cheese came through and to my surprise I loved the bread.  Soft and sweet.  Really delicious.  The Pepperoni Sandwich was good too but I just loved the heat from the Jalapeño version.  My Wife agreed that these were good sandwiches and she also really loved the bread.  I give Aloha Bakehouse two big thumbs up.  A great little surprise .
