No complaints about Federico's on the Island of Kauai. Good - Fresh Mexican food as advertised.

Order up at the counter and then sit on the outdoor patio. They will bring the food out to you and it comes quite fast. I had the Beef Tostadas. They were huge and topped with Ground Beef, Refried Beans, Mexican Rice, Lettuce, Cheese and Salsa. Comes with a healthy scoop of Sour Cream and Avocado on the side too. One was more than enough to fill me up. The Tostadas were heavy though and the shells broke into pieces so grab a fork. Everyone seemed to like the food here. The Burritos were large, tasty and filling my Daughter said. Our friend who enjoyed a Fish Taco and Carne Asada Taco was very happy. The Ceviche and Shrimp Ceviche Tostadas got a so so review from my Wife.

Found some really good Mexican food on Kauai. Federico's in Princeville serves up large portions of fresh Mexican and even has great live music right outside its door at night. We ordered some plates of fresh and hot chips and then loaded them up with the salsas from the salsa bar. Instant nachos minus the cheese as an appetizer. I ordered Three Tacos ($11.95). One Carne Asada, Carnitas and Al Pastor served with rice and beans. Was surprised how much meat they placed on each taco. The meats were well marinated and flavorful. I ended up eating the meat with a fork as all of those double corn tortillas was very filling. The (3) Taquitos Appetizer ($6.95) was well presented and really good. Served with fresh greens, salsa and guacamole. Nice appetizer to share with the table. My wife enjoyed the Two Taco Meal ($9.95) with one Fish Taco and one Carne Asada Taco. She loved the fresh fish taco and said it was really good. My daughter went for her usual Bean and Cheese Burrito ($5.95). This was a big burrito and she seemed to enjoy it. Our friends loved the Grilled Chicken and Mango Salad ($9.95). I tasted the chicken and it had flavor. Nice marinade. The food here is good and the portions are large. What made the night super special was that there were local musicians playing rock n' roll in the courtyard fronting the restaurant. We sat outside and listened to great vintage rock. Miki, the bands leader was an incredible musician and singer. He plays a mean Hawaiian Ukulele and guitar. The band is made up of locals with some touring with well known bands during their career. It was really a treat to sit back under the stars, eat Mexican food and listen to a little rock n' roll. We smuggled in a six pack of beer and were told that it was not allowed in a very nice and polite way. No problem. We simply poured the brew into white cups and drank happily until the music ended.
