GRILLED ONO WITH AVOCADO SALSA

 GRILLED ONO WITH AVOCADO SALSA
DINNER AT HOME

Fresh Ono was available so I bought some nice pieces for just under $10.  Made a White Wine Butter Sauce with some Shallots, Garlic, Chicken Stock and Cream to go on the bottom and topped the fish with an Avocado Salsa.  Loved this because it looked and tasted so good.  The sauce was perfect with the firm meaty Ono and the Avocado Salsa was an extra layer of flavor with the fish and vegetables.

BAKED ONO

BAKED ONO
DINNER AT HOME

Enjoyed some super fresh Ono from our beautiful Hawaiian waters.  Served with a nice Shallot, Garlic, Capers and Parsley Sauce that I whipped up in minutes.  Used a little Olive Oil, White Wine, Chicken Stock, Lemon Juice and Butter to make the sauce.  Tasted delicious.

GRILLED ONO WITH PAPAYA AND AVOCADO SALSA

GRILLED ONO WITH PAPAYA AND AVOCADO SALSA
DINNER AT HOME

So happy when I go into Foodland and find fresh fish available at a great price.  Ono was $6.99 per pound so I was able to make a great tasting and healthy dinner for three for around ten bucks.
Ono is a close relative to King Mackerel.  In Hawaiian, Ono means "sweet, very good to eat".  The filets can be sautéed, broiled, grilled or fried.  I like putting them on the outdoor grill or grill pan.
The fish is very mild so I would recommend seasoning well or adding a good sauce.  I prepared a quick Salsa using fresh Papaya and Avocado.
