LUNCH ON THE RUN

I order Jersey Mike's on their app and just pick it up at the store.  Beats standing in line and waiting for sure.  Got my fave Original Italian Mikes Way and added the new Hot Honey Sauce.  Tasted great with a nice kick of heat.

Craving a Jersey Mike's Original Italian Sandwich.  Ordered a "Mini" size thinking it would be lower in carbs.  To my surprise, the mini has 42 carbs.  Bummed my high.  Guess I need to go back to enjoying the "Sub in a Tub" with no bread.

Trying to stay on a low carb diet means not eating too many sandwiches.  I do make sandwiches at home with low carb bread but when you go out it can be difficult.  I love Jersey Mike's and often do a Sub in a Tub to eliminate the bread.  On this visit I went for the carbs and enjoyed a Mini Original Italian Mikes Way.  Delicious and the Mini is just the right size for me.  Fills me up and very satisfying.

I really like the Italian Sandwich at Jersey Mikes.  Have not been able to eat one for over six months while eating a low carb diet.  I saw on Instagram someone ordered the sandwich without the bread and they served it in a carton.  I took a photo of the post so I would remember it the next time the Jersey Mikes Sub craving hit me.  Well it hit me on this day and I had a free delivery from Grub Hub.  Went online and ordered the Italian Sandwich Mike's way plus Avocado.  The option given in the dropdown menu was "Tub".  I figured this meant in a tub rather than on bread.  Googled "Jersey Mike's Tub" and found out this was true.  The un-sandwich arrived within an hour and it looked really good.  One bite and I was in Jersey Mike's heaven.  All the flavors of the regular sandwich without the carbs.  Absolutely loved this lunch and will definitely be ordering Jersey Mike's in a tub again!

Hawaii does not have any really good Deli's or Sandwich Shops.  I actually could not name one.  Enter the National chain Jersey Mike's and we can at least get a decent one with good bread, fresh meats and flavor.  I love the Original Italian Mike's Way plus a little jalapeño.

There are at least three things you cannot find in Hawaii.  Good Pizza, Mexican food and Sub Sandwiches to name a few.  When I read that a mainland Sub Sandwich chain named Jersey Mike's was coming to town I was excited.  If I could get an Italian Sub like New York or Chicago.  With my anticipation and excitement rising we hit Jersey Mike's after hitting some golf balls on the driving range.  We entered to find a busy environment with Sub Sandwiches being made and devoured.  I took a minute to step back from the line and observe the menu.  My Daughter saw
Roast Beef and Provolone and immediately said she wanted that.  I went for the Italian ($9.75 Reg)
with Ham, Cappacoula, Salami, Pepperoni and Provolone.  Was surprised to see the gal behind the counter hand slice the meats for the sandwich.  She then passed the sandwiches to the left where you can choose your toppings.  The gal asked if I wanted "Mike's Style" and I asked her what that was.  She said with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onion, Olive Oil and Vinegar.  "Mike's Style" I said with Jalapeños and Yellow Peppers.  My Daughters Roast Beef and Provolone ($9.45) was ordered with just Lettuce per her request.  This was a mistake because the Roast Beef was flavorless.  My Daughter took a few bites and then let me have a taste.  Very bland.  Really needed some seasoning or sauce.  Even adding the Vinegar and Oil would have helped.  My Daughter bit into my Italian Sandwich and said "now that is good".  The Italian was good.  I was pretty happy with the flavor of the sandwich but the bread was not the type you get in New York.  A little too soft.  Couldn't really taste the cheese so next time I may order with additional cheese.  I did however like the sandwich and will return this weekend to try another.
