Loved the food and service at Los Garcias in San Jose. This meal hit the spot and satisfied my cravings for Mexican food. Just wish we had more days here so I could go back again and again and try different menu items.

I don't spend much time on the Kailua side of Oahu and have never heard of Los Garcia's. Turns out this place has been in business for almost twenty years and they serve some pretty good Mexican food. Almost missed eating here because we could not find parking. Had to loop around the place and park on the street about a block away. We entered around lunchtime and found the place empty. We were greeted by a smiling waitress who informed us that we could sit inside or outside on the patio. We opted for the patio. Menus, water and Chips and Salsa were on the table quickly. The Chips were fresh and the Salsa was good but did not have enough heat. I asked the waitress if they had a "hotter" salsa and she said yes but it cost an additional $3.95. I ordered it and was happy I did. The "hotter" salsa was HOT! Smoking hot but delicious. We started scooping it up on the Chips and then the heat kicked in on the back end. Holy Cow....our heads were on fire. Not being able to take the intense heat we opted to mix the hotter salsa with the regular salsa. This was perfect. We devoured two baskets of Chips and two bowls of Salsa. I ordered a combination with a Shredded Beef Taco and Chicken Enchilada with Beans and Rice. I enjoyed the meal and thought that this was some pretty decent Mexican food for Hawaii. My friend really liked the Genaro Tacos which were two large flour tortillas filled with grilled beef. Beans and Rice were good too. No complaints about this meal at Los Garcia's. The waitress was super friendly and took really good care of us too.
