THE BUFFET AT HYATT

THE BUFFET AT HYATT
HYATT REGENCY WAIKIKI
2424 KALAKAUA AVE
HONOLULU, HI
808-923-1234

Seeing a lot of photos of the new Buffet at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki on social media.  While we are not big buffet people, decided to give it a try.  The Buffet features Seafood and Korean food on the pool deck of the hotel.  There is open air indoor and outdoor seating.  We opted for outdoors and had a great view of the waves and surfers in Waikiki.  There was live music by Dave Watanabe who can sing pretty much anything.  Dave is a fixture in Waikiki hotels and I book him annually for parties at my house.  A little music, vino, nice view and food.  Not a bad night in Waikiki.  Now for the food.  While we were not that impressed, there are quite a few dishes that I really liked.  My favorites were the Crab Legs which were served with drawn butter.  Delicious and made the meal for me.  I liked the Sirloin Steak, Beef Bulgogi, Kalbi Ribs, Shrimp Skewers, Carbonara and Sushi.  Price is $80 per person.

BEEF BROCCOLI

DINNER AT HOME

I think my Wife may have been Chinese in another life.  She makes the best Beef Broccoli and Sweet and Sour Pork.  Far better than any restaurant in Hawaii.  This dinner was delicious with perfectly cooked Broccoli, moist beef and a great sauce.  Loved it!

MAUI NUI VENISON

DINNER AT HOME

I like Venison but unfortunately the last time I bought some at a Farmers Market in Honolulu, it made me sick.  Literally smelled and tasted like shit.  We ended up not eating it and I have stayed away from buying Venison ever since.  Saw Maui Nui Venison and decided to buy a variety pack.  While it was quite expensive, I took a chance and the first item we tried were Leg Medallions.  Never heard of Leg Medallions before and didn't know how to cook them.  Decided to play it safe and just do a quick Stir Fry.  I sautéed the Venison in Butter just for a couple of minutes.  Did not want to overcook it and wanted it to remain a little pink inside.  Salt, Pepper and quick sear... done.  Tasted really good.  Not gamey at all.  Definitely would buy again if it were not so expensive.  The Starter Box is $195 plus freight.
