NEW YORK CENTRAL PARK

So lucky to visit New York in May and enjoy perfect weather.  When the weather is good Central Park shines with so much beauty.  An absolute treasure in the heart of a concrete jungle filled with honking horns and sirens.  Cherished this day in the park!

The New York Marriott Marquis is perfect if you desire to be near Times Square and Broadway.  Plenty to do within walking distance with restaurants and shopping.  My room was large and clean but was adjoining to another and you could hear everything including their tv and conversations.  Check in was smooth and the Front Desk Clerk was very nice.  She offered me an upgrade and said it was $450.  I said "for the week", and she said no per night.  No upgrade for me I said.  I did however upgrade to the M Club which for me was not worth it.  The M Club is very large and nice and they serve breakfast and evening snacks.  No alcohol is included.  I don't eat breakfast and never had time to enjoy the afternoon snacks so this was not for me.  I was staying here for a business convention so the elevators were quite busy.  There are a lot of elevators but you can only take the one you are assigned to.  You need to swipe your key and enter where you are going.  Then you are assigned an elevator by letter.  I don't know how you would get back to the lobby if you got in the wrong elevator because there are no buttons in them.  The process worked fine though.  Location is great but don't bring a car as parking is $100 per day.  The hotel has a large restaurant and bar plus a revolving restaurant at the top.  The bar has views of Times Square and their Pizza was fantastic.  Really no complaints about the hotel.  Good for our conference and business.

HAWAIIAN AIRLINES - HONOLULU TO NEW YORK

 HAWAIIAN AIRLINES FIRST CLASS
HONOLULU TO NEW YORK (JFK)

How Hawaiian Airlines can have the best new 787 passenger jet and charge $5000 for a First Class ticket and then give lousy service and food is beyond me.  Hawaiian Air just does not give a crap about its customers.  I think filling the seats is all that is important to them.  Food is absolutely horrible and the worst of any airline I have ever flown.  Sometimes it is uneatable and tasteless.  No thought goes into the menu, preparation or taste.  I think everything is based solely on low food cost.  The Chicken served on this flight was terrible.  So bad that I gave it back and ordered a Cheese Platter from Coach.  Believe it or not on one First Class flight they made me pay for the Cheese Platter.  Was not charged this time.  The breakfast with a Kalua Pork Potato thing is uneatable and there is no Kalua Pork inside.  What a joke.  When it comes to service most Hawaiian Airlines flights to the basic minimum even in First Class.  Drinks are not refilled and there is very little attention paid to the customer during the flight which is the exact opposite of other Asian or International carriers.  It is depressing when you are loyal to the airline and mileage program but always feel ripped off after a first class flight.  Note to Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines CEO:
please fly JAL, ANA, Korean Air, Thai Air or Singapore Airlines and see how the food taste and how the Flight Attendants treat their customers.  Then fly Hawaiian to experience the difference.

HONOLULU AIRPORT

The Mahi Mahi Rice Bowl at Makai Marketplace in the Honolulu Airport has become my
"go to" preflight meal.  Getting to a point where I make sure that I make time to have this before every flight.  It definitely a restaurant quality dish that is bursting with delicious flavors and satisfying textures.

My Wife was working late and brought home this Jollibee plate for dinner.  The Spicy Fried Chicken was for me.  Wow....some of the best Fried Chicken on the planet.  Love it!  My Wife loves the Pancit Palabok which is a combination of Pork,Shrimp, Egg, Noodles and Egg.
