LUNCH AT HAWAIIAN AIRLINES TERMINAL

This has become my "go to" lunch when traveling overseas on Hawaiian Airlines.  Located in the new Terminal 1, the Mauka Market serves one of the best plates of fish on Oahu.  As good or better than most really good restaurants in Honolulu.  Fresh Mahi Mahi with a delicious slightly spicy sauce that packs flavor and a punch.  The veggies put this dish over the top for me.  Absolutely love it!

PRE FLIGHT LUNCH AT THE AIRPORT

Heading out to the mainland for quick trip and wanted to have lunch before boarding the plane.  The Hawaiian Airlines Terminal near my gate had only one restaurant option.  The Mauka Market which I have eaten at several times and never been impressed.  This time the food rocked my world.  So good that I actually thanked the Chef.  The Mahi Mahi Bowl was incredible.  With each bite I thought to myself, "this is better than any high quality restaurant in Honolulu".  The Mahi Mahi was fresh, cooked perfectly and covered in an amazing slightly spicy sauce that made this one of my favorite Mahi Mahi dishes ever.  Really...it was that good.  Cannot wait for another Hawaiian flight so I can order this tasty dish again.

My second visit to the Mauka Market at the Hawaiian Airlines Concourse in Honolulu.  Now it is 2 for 2 not liking the food here.  Ordered the BBQ Pork Sandwich and while the Pork tasted ok, there was very little Slaw and Fried Onions.  Wish there would have been more.  The Fries were terrible and tasted like they were cooked in old oil.  The 9oz vino was good though!

Nice to see that after two years, the Mauka Concourse which is home to Hawaiian Airlines finally has a restaurant.  Arrived around lunch time to find the place packed with a line out the door.  Staff was super friendly and did a great job despite the crowd.  I ordered the Spicy Pork Ramen with a side of Shrimp Tempura.  The Ramen was not spicy at all and totally lacked flavor.  Pretty bad to tell the truth.  The Tempura was average and I think the ones we buy at Costco and Sams Club are better.  Wine was good though!
