Had an incredible meal at Rei Do Gado. This Korean owned Brazilian Steakhouse is fantastic! We dined on the patio overlooking the streets of Downtown Honolulu. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and a good guy. I was blown away by the salad bar. Filled with fresh meats, salads, crab, vegetables and just about everything you could imagine. More things that I could possibly eat. Everything looked fresh and delicious. I started my meal with a small salad, crab legs, shrimp and marinated mushrooms. I wanted to try more, but needed to save room for the meats. This place is known for its unlimited array of meats, poultry and sausage served on skewers. All grilled on a charcoal bbq. The flavors were amazing. I really enjoyed the bacon wrapped filet mignon and garlic strip steak. To be honest, I was full after the first two skewers, but they just kept on coming. You can put a marker up on the table that reads red or green. Green means bring more skewers and Red means I am in a holding pattern. We dined for hours on the outside patio. What a great experience. The bartender served us a famous Brazilian drink that was kind of like a Mojito. I tried it, but just could not finish the thing. This is a great restaurant with a very courteous staff. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to return.

We drove over the Coronado Bridge after work and enjoyed dinner at the Brigantine bar. We were there for a Fish Taco but had to try the Sliders and some Fresh Oysters. The Brigantine serves up some of the best Fish Tacos in San Diego. The Sliders were just o.k. and the Oysters were great.

Brigantine has a great seafood menu and is a good choice for dinner in San Diego. If you want to keep it casual, sit at the bar and enjoy a drink and Fish Taco.

I had no intention of visiting the Midway. A friend asked me if I wanted to go and I said "sure". What a great decision. I absolutely loved this ship and the guides that work here. Seemed like every guide actually served on the ship or was a former sailor. They were filled with knowledge on every subject. If you wanted to know about how a pilot would catch a tail hook, the guy telling you the story was an actual pilot who performed numerous carrier landings at sea. Want to know about the 12 boilers that and 18 foot tall propellers and you will be educated by a man that actually worked in the boiler plant on board the Midway. The Midway is Magic! Imagine a ship on a 42-year odyssey that stretched from the end of WWII to the liberation of Kuwait in 1991. An odyssey shared by thousands of sailors whose average age was 19! No other aircraft carrier served America in the 20th century as long as the Midway. It's track record for humanitarian missions, established of new naval aviation standards, and marathon deployments made it one of the most noteworthy aircraft carriers in the history of the U.S. Navy. Commissioned in 1945 as the largest ship in the world for a decade. With a crew of 4500 that included 225 cooks and 200 pilots the Midway is a floating city. The deck is filled with vintage aircraft that have been restored to pristine condition. The tour is around $15 and includes a self-guided audio tour. Totally AWESOME!

Launched in 1968 and decommissioned in 2007, the last diesel-electric submarine in the United States Navy was responsible for many "firsts." Dolphin's extreme deep-diving capability placed the vessel at the forefront of undersea naval research throughout her entire career. In November 1968, she set a depth record for operating submarines that still stands and, in 1969 she launched a torpedo from the deepest depth that has ever been fired. Designed to be easily modified internally and externally to accommodate special military and civilian research equipment, Dolphin is presently outfitted consistent with her last active service: extensively deep water acoustic research, oceanic survey work, sensor trials, and engineering evaluations. Operating depth greater than 3000'. 165' Length. There is no comparison between which sub I would rather be on. The B-39 Soviet Sub vs The USS Dolphin. Put me on the Dolphin.

I was amazed when we boarded the B-39 Soviet era "Foxtrot" class (Nato designation) or "Project 641" (Soviet Navy designation) diesel-electric powered attack submarine. She was constructed at the Sudomekh shipyards near Leningrad and commissioned in 1974. At the time, this was one of the largest diesel-electric submarines ever built. She was one of a fleet of Soviet attack subs that shadowed U.S. Navy ships throughout the world's oceans during the Cold War. As you slowly make your way through the small hatchways that enter each compartment it is hard to believe that men lived in these cramped quarters for months at a time. Sleeping, bathing and eating quarters were minimal at best. This was really a cool experience.

Twenty years ago, I spent a whole lot of time hanging out what was then the Triton in Cardiff by the Sea. This was "the" place to be for sunset and cocktails. Visiting one of my old haunts was fantastic. Not much has changed over the years. Different paint job inside, but everything else pretty much the same. The view of Cardiff Beach is fantastic and the Oyster Shooters are still delicious. They place a large fresh and raw oyster in a shot glass and then cover it in cocktail sauce and top with a bit of horseradish. Some people pop a shot of booze in the glass, but I prefer just the oyster. Love this place a lot. Brings back a ton of memories from my youth.
