Made a rare visit to Chinatown to try a Shrimp Plate at Blue Seafood. The Shrimp were not that great so we decided to try a Banh Mi at Vietnam Pho and Sandwiches in the same food court. Wow...this was good. The Special Banh Mi had some really good flavors and was probably the second best Banh Mi I have had in Hawaii next to BaLe Sandwich.

My go to meal after a mainland trip has become a Banh Mi and Pho. My fave is from Bale in Hawaii Kai but for some reason they do not offer delivery service. I ordered online and within 45 minutes had my meal at home. The Banh Mi was not bad but not in same league as Bale which fills the sandwich with more meat, cheese and veggies. The Pho was pretty good.

I liked the food, service and cleanliness of Pho Que Huong in Chinatown. Food came out lightning fast so we were enjoying the Beef Pho in minutes. Thought the Pho could use a little more flavor in the broth. Banh Mi was pretty good and the bread was fresh. Not my fave Vietnamese restaurant in Honolulu, but a solid place to eat.

BALE SANDWICH

TAKEOUT DINNER AT HOME

Bale definitely makes my favorite Banh Mi Sandwich in Hawaii. Love the Special Sandwich with Cheese and always order with extra veggies (Pickled Daikon and Carrots). This sandwich is packed with flavor and cannot be beat when the bread is fresh. I also like the Spring Rolls and Pho here. Some of the best on Oahu.

With a transformation happening at Ward Village with the closing of Big City Diner and Panda Express next to Dave and Busters and Ward Theatres there is a new Vietnamese restaurant on the scene. We stopped in to find the place clean and bright and were politely greeted and asked to sit anywhere. Water and the menu arrived in seconds and we were excited about the menu. Decided to try three items and share them. First up were the Spring Rolls. They were good but not our favorite. A little bland and my Wife thought the sauce was too sweet. The Bone Marrow with Eye Round Pho came out looking pretty amazing. Was excited to try the broth but after a few spoon fulls I thought it too was bland. Didn't really have the big flavor to make me come back for more. The Combo Banh Mi was good but I kept thinking the BaLe Special Banh Mi was better. Service was fantastic and we liked the place. Just wish the flavors were a bit more bold.
