The space formerly occupied by La Vie which was one of our favorite restaurants has been taken over by Solera which is a Hawaii Regional Cuisine restaurant featuring locally sourced products. We went here on a Friday and were able to enjoy the fireworks show over Waikiki. Service was excellent with a very nice waiter who was really welcoming and engaging. The Tasting Menu at $120 per person is a pretty good deal for high end food in Waikiki. Thought the food was good but not great. Cornbread Johnny Cake and the Local Beets were my favorite dishes. The Risotto which I did not take a photo of for some reason was good but there was just too much going on in the dish. Fish was overcooked and hard. Steak was perfectly cooked and tasty but we were so full we had to take some home. The three desserts were not worth the carbs and sugar. Probably will not be coming back here for dinner but would like to try the Afterglow on Friday and Saturday nights.
