GIOVANNI'S GARLIC SHRIMP COOKED AT HOME
DINNER AT HOME
We love the Giovanni's Shrimp Truck on the North Shore of Oahu. We always order the Shrimp Scampi with Hot Sauce on the side. I tip big and ask for extra hot sauce to take home so we can use it with our homemade version. My Wife spent over a year perfecting our recipe which tastes almost identical to the food truck. She also makes the incredible Garlic Rice too. When you have the real deal hot sauce at home its like being on the North Shore and eating at the truck without the drive. This is truly one of our favorite dinners at home.

Took a few out of town guests and customers to Hoakalei Country Club for lunch. I saw the Chop Salad on the menu and requested it with a piece of Mahi Mahi. The waiter said of course and when they brought it there was Chicken and Mahi Mahi. I failed to notice that the Chop Salad included Chicken. Oh well it was pretty good. Fish was fresh and cooked perfectly.

PAPPARDELLE WITH MUSHROOMS, BUTTER, SAGE AND PARMESAN

My Daughters first day back in Hawaii for the Holidays and she requested her favorite Pappardelle with Mushrooms. Dad was happy to accommodate and made this absolutely delicious dinner. The recipe is really simple and the flavors are amazing.

DOMINO'S PIZZA CAESAR SALAD
LUNCH AT THE OFFICE
When my office said they were ordering lunch from Domino's because they deliver, I said "no" because there isn't much available on the menu that is low carb. I opted for the Caesar Salad with Chicken. The lettuce was chilled and crisp. There was not much chicken and it was unseasoned and pretty tasteless. Dressing helped.

Went for a light dinner with this delicious Wedge Salad. Chilled Iceberg Lettuce with Beets, Bacon, Egg, Green Onion, Tomato and Avocado. Topped with Blue Cheese Dressing and crumbled Blue Cheese. One of my favorite salads ever!

SA SA'S GOURMET SUMMER ROLLS

Cruising the KCC Farmers Market and seeing lots of incredible food. Problem is most of the food is very high carb. We went for a low carb option at Sa Sa's Summer Rolls. Got the Shrimp Summer Roll which was around $10. Very fresh and healthy. Did not like their Signature Sauce but the spicy sauce was ok.

My first visit back to Side Street Inn since COVID was incredible. While the place has been totally remodeled, the great food and service remained the same. I cannot say that I am a fan of the remodel as I loved the old school look and feel of the old place. I am however a huge fan of the food here. As a Foodie and food blogger I often get asked "what are my favorite restaurants in Hawaii". Believe it or not this is a tough question for me. I really don't have many favorites that jump out at me. Side Street Inn is the exception as it is one of my top five restaurants in Hawaii. Heck it may be the top one or two. On this visit we went for Chef's Colin's Classics. We had eight people so I wanted to order the portion for 6-8 people. The waitress said that the portions are large and the 3-4 person portion would be enough for eight of us especially if we were adding other dishes. Cannot believe it but she was right. For $120 the entire table was satisfied and filled up plus there were boxes of leftovers. Great food and a great deal. Everything here is delicious. I love the Farmers Salad, Pork Chops, Boneless Kalbi, Steamed Fish and Ribeye. Sad to see they took the Seared Ahi off the menu. Would have loved some fresh Ahi. Desserts here should not be missed. They are all great!

Sad to learn that Meg's Drive In is closing. This place is an institution in Kalihi and only steps from my office. It is one of our offices "go to" places for a quick lunch and used often to serve quests in our training classes. I am not a big fan of Hawaii Plate Lunches which Meg's is known for, but I always enjoy the Chef Salad, Chinese Steamed Fish and Salmon.

FRENCH ONION SOUP
DINNER AT HOME
We had a large bag of Onions and Gruyere cheese leftover from Thanksgiving and I immediately thought of making French Onion Soup. Found a great recipe and went for it. This came out incredible and was one of the best French Onion Soups ever. I cannot believe so many restaurants make terrible French Onion Soup. It is so easy to make this one and you will love it! I added a tablespoon of Brandy in addition to the Red Wine.

CARNE ASADA BURRITO
DINNER AT HOME
After Carne Asada Tacos for Taco Tuesday we did Burrito Wednesday. Used the same Carne Asada from Taco night and wrapped it in a Mission low carb flour tortilla. Added Onion, Cilantro and hot sauce. That's it. A simple and delicious dinner in minutes.

CARNE ASADA TACOS
DINNER AT HOME
Another delicious Taco Tuesday at Casa de Santos. Grilled up some marinated steak and put together these Carne Asada Tacos with Guacamole, Onion, Cilantro, Jalapeño and Hot Sauce.
One of my favorite meals and we used low carb Tortillas too!
