I woke up at 3am and was in the office by 4am.  Caught a flight to Kona at 7am and returned home at 6pm.  Long day so I called my Wife and asked if she could pick up some Vietnamese food for dinner.  She delivered some delicious Green Papaya Salad, Spring Rolls and a 

Bahn Mi Sandwich.  Perfect combination of flavors for me.

One of my favorite things about visiting Maui isn't the beautiful beaches, Haleakala, the Road to Hana or Whale watching.  It's enjoying the Beach Salad at the airport.  I absolutely LOVE the Beach Salad at Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill.  Always chilled to perfection and served with one of the best Chimichurri dressings on the planet.  This is a simple salad packed with flavors and textures that keep me coming back.

The Kahala Hotel is truly my happy place.  Love being on the property and enjoying the views, beverages and food.  The Plumeria Beach House had a special dinner with a concert by Nathan Aweau who is a Hawaiian singer who played base for Don Ho for around 15 years.  He then went onto an award winning solo career and an incredible run with Barry Flanagan in the group called Hapa.  Hapa to this day is one of my favorite Hawaii groups.  I enjoyed the music plus some French Onion Soup and Crispy Wok Fried Prawns.  The Prawns and preparation of vegetables was delicious.  Too bad my photo did not turn out.  My Wife enjoyed the Broiled Misoyaki Butterfish which is always excellent.  My only complaint about the Plumeria Beach House is that they have not changed or added to the menu in what seems like over a year.  Would be nice to have a few specials or other options on the menu.

Stopped into Maui Potato Chip Factory for what may be the last time ever.  The Maui Kitch N' Cook'D Potato Chips are my all-time favorite.  Crispy, Salty Potato Chip perfection made in Maui for over 60 years.  We walked in and found the lights off, no a/c and owners looking pretty sad.  How is your day going I asked the owner of the Potato Chip factory.  "Not good" he said.  "They are selling our building".  Cannot describe the sadness in the mans eyes but it was deep.  I grabbed the chips and enjoyed them for what may be the last time.  Sad as the Maui Potato Chip factory is an institution in Hawaii.  While they did not do anything to expand, improve or cater to the digital age and social media, they did make an incredible product and never ever changed the way they did business.

This simple BBQ Chicken dinner has to be one of my all time favorites.  I season the chicken thighs and then put them on the grill.  After both sides sear and get grill marks, I coat with a Sweet and Spicy BBQ Sauce.  Serve with fresh vegetables sautéed in a little garlic and butter.

LBD has a good vibe and I like the semi outdoor patio seating.  Menu is a bit limited but the items we ate were pretty tasty.  The Noodles were my favorite and worth the carbs.  Servers were friendly.

This light, low carb dinner was delicious.  We had the Roasted Beets, Tomato and Avocado in the fridge so I decided to use them up in this not so normal creation.

I was making a Burrito using a low carb Mission Tortilla and it was too large to wrap up.  Decided to just eat it like a Taco.  My Drewitto included Spicy Refried Beans, Shredded Chicken, Cheese, Guacamole, Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream and Hot Sauce.  Delicious!

We did takeout from Pho Old Saigon and was not disappointed.  Food was really good.  Loved the Green Papaya Salad with Shrimp and Pork.  Only complaint is there was no heat.  I added Sriracha Sauce to give it a kick.  The Spring Rolls were good but a bit bland.  Liked the Special Banh Mi with Pork and Pate and would definitely order again.  Only complaint was the bread was a little hard and flakey.  The menu here is huge so I am looking at returning to try the Pho and much more!

The Spicy Chicken Sandwich "Animal Style". sounded so good.  Double Fried Spicy Chicken with Fried Egg and Pork Belly.  I took one bite and really didn't want another.  Ate less than half of this sandwich and gave the other half to a coworker.  Not my fave.

The Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill Beach Salad is one of my favorite salads of all time.  In fact, I want one every time I fly out of Kahului airport.  Salad includes Mixed Greens, Jicama, Sliced Egg, Pico de Gallo, Roasted Corn Salsa, Avocado, Lime and Mexican spices.  Served with a very good Chimichurri dressing.  SO GOOD!  Also like the servers here that no matter how busy still try their best to give you good service.

Finally had time to stop at the Gyro's -N- Villains Food Truck in Kakaako.

Went with the Classic Gyro for $12 and was not disappointed.  The sandwich was large and very filling.  Nice flavors too.  Definitely going back here again.
